It also somewhat offends me that Channing should be able to win Geo’s trust and affection in a few short hours after abandoning him all this time. But that doesn’t change the gratitude I have for Channing right now.

That he did show up. That he’s here for Geo when Geo needs him most.

I resist the urge to run out there, interrupt the moment. Their movements are graceful and awe-inspiring.

The larger one–Channing–waits and paces back a few steps, facing the smaller wolf. Like a teacher with a pupil. Now that they’re standing still, I can pick out the subtle differences in their markings.

The big wolf raises his head–and rises to hind legs, somehow morphing back into human form. Fur disappears, his head and jaw reshapes. It happens in an instant, but slow enough I can pick out the exact moment the wolf becomes man, becomes Channing.

A very big, very naked Channing. He’s standing outside the circle of light, but there’s no mistaking the solid, grooved lines of his muscles. The tapered obliques under his bulging arms, the giant, powerful thighs.

He turns to face the house, and steps into the light. Nestled in the crisp blond hair is his alarmingly large dick. My core cramps, hard. I shouldn’t think of him this way. Shoudn’t be attracted to my dead husband’s younger brother. I should think…brotherly thoughts about him.

Something shatters in front of me. The wine glass slipped out of my nerveless fingers and smashed into the sink.

“Shoot.” I reach into the sink and slice my finger.

The kitchen door flies open.

“Everything all right?” Channing stands in the doorway, completely naked. The warm light gilds the strong breadth of his shoulders and casts the ridges and contours of his chest in relief.

“Yes,” I blurt, grabbing a nearby dish towel. “I dropped my wine glass.”

He looks at me with concern. His bare skin glows with the barest hint of sweat. His thighs are huge and powerful. His Adonis belt cuts a V leading right to his…

I force my eyes to Channing’s face. “Did it go okay?” My voice is breathless.

“Yeah.” He relaxes. “It went great.” He doesn't care that he’s buck naked, giant dick swinging in the breeze. Shifters don’t care about nudity the way humans do.

I hold the dishcloth up, creating a screen between his gorgeous god-like body and my greedy gaze. ”I left your clothes on the picnic table. Do you mind?”

“Oh, yeah, sure.” He pivots, mooning me.

And what a beautiful full moon it is. The slick muscles of his back lead to two defined dimples above the smooth swell of his ass.

A strangled noise escapes my throat.

Channing halts and looks back. “You sure you’re okay?”

I wave the dishcloth at him, unable to speak. He ducks out of the house, and I stare at the mess I made. My chest is flushed, my skin uncomfortably hot.

My son bursts through the door, bringing with him a welcome wave of cool air.

“Mom!” He’s breathless. “I shifted.” Geo’s bright-eyed and flushed from his run. The scent of pine and the night clings to his hair. He’s wearing the nondescript t-shirt and sweatpants I set out for him. The t-shirt fits, but the sweatpants are way too loose.

“I saw, I saw,” I say.

“It was epic.” Geo strides into the room, looking more like a man and so much less like the little boy I raised. How did this happen? “I’m so strong as a wolf. And really fast. We went far–way up to the top of the ridge and around the back side. Uncle Channing took me all the way up to the lookout. And I practiced shifting. I learned how to bookmark my different shapes.”

“That’s great, mijo.” Relief hits me so hard, I tear up.

Behind Geo, Channing enters the house. He’s wearing the same too-small shirt stretched tight over his broad chest and his jeans. He’s gorgeous.

“We’re going again tomorrow night,” Geo says. “And Uncle Channing says we can go for an even longer time this weekend.”

“He did, did he?” I narrow my eyes at Channing, but I’m not upset they’re planning more outings. Channing gives me that lazy, lopsided grin of his. The dimples wink.

Eggs aren’t dropping from my ovaries. They’re not.

“Can we, Mom? We were careful. Uncle Channing’s going to teach me how to shift safely and be responsible.”

“Of course.” I reach up to touch Geo’s hair. I used to ruffle his silky black hair all the time, but not since he shot up taller than me. But for the moment, the cynical teen’s fallen away, replaced by an enthusiastic kid.

“Uncle Channing knows best.”

“She finally admits it.” Channing winks.

“Thanks.” Geo leans in, hugging me hard enough to squeeze the air from my lungs. He lifts me off my feet, and I wheeze.

“Easy, Junior,” Channing admonishes. “You’re stronger than you think.”

“Oh sorry.” Geo sets me back down. “Can I have pizza now? Uncle Channing wouldn't let me kill the squirrel. I’m starving.”
