“That guy works here?”

“Yes.”

“You hire bikers?”

“I don’t, no. The new owners do.”

“The new owners are affiliated with a motorcycle club?”

“You could say that,” she murmured, wondering why he cared.

She expected more questions, but surprisingly, he let that drop. They stopped just outside of the dressing room. “Stay here. Let me see who’s inside.”

After he gave her an answering nod, she opened the door and slipped inside.

She only saw two women getting ready and both were already dressed in their outfits and now sitting in front of the vanities, putting on their “faces.”

“Sorry, ladies, I have a gentleman here from Peckers All-Male Revue and he left behind a piece of his outfit. Do you mind if he comes in and looks for it?”

Pepper waved a hand over her shoulder while Chyna shot her a smile in the mirror. “Is he cute?”

Mel pinned her lips together and nodded. As soon as she did, both dancers spun around on their chairs, interest filling their eyes.

“You’re married,” Chyna said to Pepper.

Pepper bugged her eyes out at her co-worker. “So? That doesn’t mean I can’t look. I’m not dead. I get stared at all night, what’s wrong with me doing a little staring of my own? Especially at someone in the business.”

“He’ll make it quick,” Mel assured them and opened the door, waving Danny inside.

The tall redhead mumbled a thanks, and as soon as he stepped into the dressing room, Pepper released a long, low whistle.

Chyna added on a, “Well, hellooooo, handsome!”

Danny grinned. “Sorry for barging in, ladies.”

Chyna looked him up and down. There was no shame in her game. “Are you going to be here next Monday night?”

“That’s the plan as of now.”

“I’ll have to come in on my night off,” she stated before asking Mel, “Are the rest of that traveling troupe hunks like him?”

Great. Of course Chyna would put her on the spot.

“They’re worth watching. They have quite the moves,” was the safest way for her to respond.

Chyna mmm’d and pursed her lips, dragging her gaze up and down Danny’s physique some more.

“Are you single, handsome?” Pepper asked, her eyes flicking from him to Mel and back.

Mel shot Pepper a look and reminded her, “You’re not.”

Pepper shot back a huge smile. “But you are.”

Shit.

Chapter Seven

But you are.

“Thanks for that reminder,” Mel muttered.

She was definitely single and with all the hours she worked, she couldn’t see that changing any time soon. Until she found better employment elsewhere, she had no time to date.

She ignored the look and the whispers both girls shared, turning back to Danny. “Do you need help looking?”

“No, just give me a minute while I take a quick look around.”

“What do they look like?” Pepper asked.

Danny released a soft snort-laugh. “Tiny, shiny and with one of those, you know, pouches.”

Chyna asked with all seriousness, “Is the pouch tiny, too?” even though she was kidding.

Danny played along. “I’d have to say that’s where most of the fabric was used.”

Chyna wiggled her eyebrows and released a sexy, little growl. “Size is great and all, as long as you know how to use all those inches.”

“I haven’t had any complaints.”

“That’s what they all say,” Pepper said on a sigh, turning back to the mirror and continuing to sweep blush across her criminally high cheekbones. She kept one eye on what she was doing and one eye on Danny in the mirror.

“How was the turnout last night, MJ?” Chyna asked, also keeping her eyes glued to Danny as he wandered around the large room, thoroughly checking every corner and even peeking under chairs.

“Packed. We sold out last night and we’re almost sold out already for next Monday. We might have to bring Peckers in once a month. They’re quite a draw.” And when she opened up her own club, theme nights like that might be financially beneficial.

“Do you like being a Pecker?” Pepper asked him.

He lifted his head from where he was peering into some of the empty lockers.

“He’s new,” Mel answered before he could.

“Maybe he needs some pointers,” Chyna suggested, giving Mel a pointed look and a sly smile.

Heat crept into her cheeks at Chyna’s blatant attempt at matchmaking. “Their type of dancing isn’t quite the same. You know that.”

Chyna raised a brow. “Close enough.”

It wasn’t. They hadn’t used either of the poles on stage last night. That was one of the main props Mel had always used when she stripped. It was also heavily used by her stable of dancers for good reason. Subconsciously it could be seen as a phallic symbol. Some men mentally put themselves in the pole’s place while watching a dancer on stage.

“Found them,” Danny announced as he leaned over and reached toward the bottom of a locker. Once he straightened, he held them up. “Now I can get out of your hair, ladies.”

“You can barge in anytime, handsome,” Chyna assured him. She arched a brow at Mel. “In fact, give him an open invitation so he can come visit.”
