“I thought we hired the gardener to do that.”
“We did, but I wanted to do this part myself. Say hello to your sons they’ve been very bad today.”
The two youngest were one year three months and the baby was exactly six months old. “How could Jamie be bad? He can’t even walk yet.”
“Oh, he gets around well enough and your daughter’s been helping them get into stuff.” I looked down at my blue-eyed doll and she looked the picture of innocence. Her little chubby cheeks and cupid bow lips were bound to keep my ass in trouble.
“Not my baby girl. It’s your damn sons who are always up to no good.” They were both asleep. Jason who was the troublemaker of the whole gang was covered in dirt from head to toe as he slept off whatever mayhem he’d been getting up to in his outdoor playpen and Jamie the baby with his thumb in his mouth and his ass in the air.
I’d tried to get her help other than ma who was stuck on our oldest son, my namesake, but the first girl didn’t work out too well. I guess she’d watched one too many biker movies or some shit and bought into the hype that all bikers were womanizers who didn’t give a shit about their wives and kids. She took the belief to the next level and found herself joining me in the shower when my wife was out running errands. I can still see and hear that night like it was yesterday.
Chloe had walked into the bathroom right in the middle of me telling the girl who couldn’t have been more than seventeen at the time that I wasn’t interested and she needed to get the fuck outta my house. I never saw my wife move that fast. She snatched that poor kid by the hair and literally threw her out the room and kicked her ass until the poor kid ran outside naked and screaming for help.
I’d had a hard time getting her to calm down after that and since then she refused to have any female other than ma or Toni in the house. She was a little lenient when it came to the other old ladies but not much; she’d learned not to trust one fuck either.
Ma had come all the way around like I knew she would. Now she and the sheriff all they wanna do is sit on their lazy asses and play grandma and grandpa. Which would be fine if they didn’t spoil the fuck outta these kids. Chloe had decided that since she didn’t want her dad’s blood money and I wasn’t about to touch it, that it should go to ma. I’d had the asshole lawyer set up a trust for her or who knows what the fuck she would’ve done with it all at once.
We’d dragged the businesses back from the brink and now things were looking good in the town. The Jokers had settled in well enough with Chaos, there were still a few skirmishes here and there, a few fires to put out, but nothing major. I guess Drexel had known what he was doing when he left the MC to his daughter’s husband. It was like keeping it in the family. And for those who’d known my dad, it was like icing on the cake. I’m sure they enjoyed their new name now more than the other. That and the fact that their lives had been changed for the better.
She got up and dusted the dirt off her gloves before lifting her lips for a kiss. “How was your day? Hey.” She wiped her cheek where our daughter whopped her one. “Angel don’t do that, be nice to mommy.” These two are like a dog with a bone.
Alexandra doesn’t like anyone near her daddy and that includes her brothers, her mom, and anything with a heartbeat. She pouted and looked away. “Is my baby being naughty? Daddy’s gonna put you down if you’re not a good girl.” I moved to follow through and she freaked.
“No daddy.” Her little body stiffened and her legs kicked out while her arms went around my neck in a death grip. Chloe rolled her eyes and shook her head. “That’s your kid.”
Since her ass is so jealous I don’t see how it’s my fault that her daughter inherited that shit. She rubbed Allie’s back and kissed her curls and the baby picked her head up and reached for her.
“Sowwy mommy.”
“I know baby.” I walked over to look down at the other two before picking them up and taking them inside with my girls trailing behind me.
This is what my life has become, evenings with my family instead of out running the streets with the crew. It wasn’t that I was totally domesticated, more like I preferred this to the other.
