“I just need a minute,” Cash murmured, holding Dev to bring him down on top of him. “We can go again.” The sweetly muttered invitation didn’t go unnoticed to Dev’s heart. No one ever did or said these kinds of things to him.

These days, every single time he had sex, he was met with apprehension. His reputation preceded him even if it came by nothing more than sensing his threat. He was known far and wide as Devilman. Devoid of kindness and good intentions. Either given or received.

Cash didn’t treat him that way. At least in this bed, Cash showed him value, respect, and a desire to make sure Dev got off.

Not really the habits of a man who jumped into a one-night stand.

Maybe the drugs brought out a tender side of Cash. He didn’t think so. The high should be long gone by now.

“What?” Cash asked, his lids parting enough to look at him then around the room. “Do I go?”

Dev shook his head no before giving any conscious thought to his answer. “Sleep. I’m gonna draw you. I gotta remember tonight.”

Their gazes locked and held several long seconds before Cash nodded. “Then you’ll sleep?”

That right there. Cash had said those same kinds of things all night long, making sure Dev was taken care of in a way he’d never experienced before. Dev nodded this time, the lump in his throat making it too hard to speak. The undeniable chemistry they shared had turned into a deeper connection. The magnetic tugs of a more meaningful relationship.

Huh. His heart had forgotten that class levels existed. Pretty boys didn’t date guys like him. They fucked them and took off.

Pain sliced across his heart at the thought of Cash thinking less of him. Maybe the ecstasy affected Cash’s rational thoughts. He pushed himself off the mattress after that dose of reality.

Cash’s tired gaze tracked his movements.

“Like what you see?” he asked without looking back. He tried for a flippant tone as he lifted the sketch pad off the floor while looking around for his pencils.

“Yeah.” The husky draw of Cash’s voice spoke of desire, sex, and sleep.

Dev tossed the sketch pad on the bed, grabbed the pencils, a joint, the lighter, and another fresh condom off the floor. He was pretty damned sated. So much so, he tossed the joint and lighter onto the nightstand. He’d draw their time together with a clear mind.

He plugged his cell phone into the charger and climbed back into bed. Cash’s deep breaths suggested he’d fallen back asleep. Dev scooted to the center of the bed. The dips and curves had made Cash adjust his position until one of his big, possessive arms straddled Dev’s thigh. Cash’s body followed, circling and molding around him.

It was crazy how much he liked the move. Cash’s nose pressed into his hip easing the irritation of moments ago. Soft puffs of breath ghosted across his skin. He stared down at Cash. The good yet foreign feelings resurfaced. The pull to his pretty boy made him lift a finger to move that unruly lock of hair that lay so enticingly against his forehead. It was crazy how much he liked the wild strands.

He’d start drawing Cash there. Capturing the look of Cash surrendering to him that now seemed embedded in his heart. The lock of hair pulled the sexy moment together. Dev had caused the pretty boy to lose his inhibitions.

Maybe.

He didn’t even know the man.

All this fantasizing.

Dev’s whole life was actively falling apart then in walks Cash, making his entire existence bearable again.

Maybe he wanted more with Cash. Honestly, he suspected Cash might too with how eager and caring he’d been in bed. Pretty boy was a machine with an attractive smile and easy attitude. He could give and receive pleasure like no one Dev had ever known before. It had made Dev up his game.

Dev lifted his free leg, bending the knee, in a much better head space than moments ago. He reached for the pad. He had memories to commit to paper.

~~~
The sounds of squeaky plumbing pipes gently drew Cash from a peaceful sleep.
He didn’t want to wake, fighting to stay asleep until the click of a shower door had his eyes fluttering open. He stared at the white ceiling of his apartment, doing a quick accounting of his body. First, the ache in his ass.
Not just his ass, but his entire body felt like it had gone through hours of intense cardio.
His mouth was dry. So were his eyes.
This felt like the tinges of a hangover.
No, that wasn’t right.
He lifted his head to see he was still in Dev’s apartment, in Dev’s bed. The adjoining bathroom door opened wide, letting the steam out.
From this angle, he caught sight of Dev in the bathroom mirror. Thankfully, the mirror was positioned where he could catch glimpses of both the front and back of Dev’s wet, muscular body. Dev stood at the edge of the sink, wiping the towel over the mirror.
