"Nu-uh," Kris growls, grinding his thumb against me again when I try to wriggle free of his arms. "You aren't going anywhere until you come, princess."

"Kris. We're going to get caught," I protest.

"Then you better come fast."

"Kris!"

"Come, Kelsey," he growls, his expression dark. He nips my bottom lip before pressing his face to my throat. "I know you need it, elskan mín. Let me take care of you."

I don't tell him no. How can I when he makes saying yes feel so freaking good? When he makes it sound so freaking heavenly?

I rock my hips against him, moaning quietly. He presses hot, open-mouth kisses all over my throat, lifting me higher and higher. The coil in my belly tightens as my orgasm draws closer. I try to hold it off, not wanting this to end, but he's implacable.

I shatter in his arms, falling to pieces.

As I shake and tremble, I think I hear him whisper, "Ég elska þig." against my throat.

I don't know what it means, but I can guess. My heart pulses with a strange mix of longing and grief. I can't keep doing this to him. I can't keep doing this to me, either. Sooner or later, it's going to destroy one of us. I either need to tell him the truth…or let him go for good.

The door cracks open while I'm trying to wrap my head around that reality.

Kris instinctively shifts, blocking me from view again as he slips his hand out of my pants.

Coach MacAthie steps into the hallway. I don't know if he sees us or if he just knows we're there. He just stands there, facing the wall directly ahead, but he speaks directly to Kris. "You're needed inside, son."

"Helvíti." Kris presses a soft kiss to my throat and then slowly slides me back to my feet.

I avoid his gaze once I'm standing on my own. I think if I look at him, I might cry. Or throw myself at him. Either is equally possible right now.

Kris sighs quietly and then steps away from me.

Coach MacAthie doesn't immediately follow when he goes back inside. Instead, he stands there, waiting me out. I step toward him, and the world starts spinning. I groan, grasping blindly for the wall to keep myself upright.

"Shit," Coach growls, grabbing my arm.

He lifts me off my feet like I'm a little girl, carrying me down the hall. I close my eyes, fighting a wave of nausea. I don't know where we're going, but he moves quickly. Within a few minutes, he sits me on a sofa in a quiet room.

"Where's your medication?"

"My office," I whisper. "Top drawer. It's the one with the blue lid."

"Stay right there," he mutters.

His steps retreat.

I curl up on the sofa, trying not to throw up or pass out. I don't know how long I lay there before I hear him hurrying toward me again.

"Here, sweetheart," he says. "Take this."

I open my eyes and take the pill from his hand, slipping it under my tongue.

He keeps his eyes on me for a moment, ensuring I took it before he crosses to the other side of the private box and rummages through the fridge. I watch through bleary eyes as he grabs a bottle of water and some fruit before crossing back to me.

He holds the water out without a word.

I wait for the pill to dissolve and then sip it slowly.

"You know, don't you?" I finally whisper. "That I'm sick, I mean."

"I know." He sits beside me, his hands clasped together between his knees. "I've always known."

I nod, not surprised. I kind of figured my dad told him before he died.

"I, um…I need to talk to you tomorrow. Officially." I lick my lips, smoothing my jersey down over my hips.

Coach doesn't need me to spell it out for him. He's probably been waiting for this for a while. His face falls. "Shit, Kelsey," he growls. "You're sure?"

"Sure enough." I don't think I can deny it anymore. I'm getting sick again. Soon, there won't be any hiding it. I can't be here when that happens. I'll just be a distraction, and that's the last thing the guys need right now. I have to leave.

Coach sighs heavily, shaking his head. "Come see me in the morning, sweetheart. We'll figure it out."

"Thanks, Coach."

"I'm going to send Stan to drive you home." He pauses. "Unless you'd rather Kris drive you."

"No." I shake my head quickly. "Stan is fine."

Coach opens his mouth like he wants to say something and then thinks better of it. He sighs again and climbs to his feet. "Eat something, Kels. Your dad would have kicked my ass for letting you waste away."

"I will," I promise.

Chapter Four

Kris

"I can't play today." Gray throws himself onto the bench beside me with a miserable groan. "My whole body still hurts from last night."
