“Since your graduation day, you mean,” I correct her.

Knowing that Steve’s suspicions about my feelings for May go back a little further than just this morning.

She doesn’t answer and sets about cleaning up the mess on the floor, but now that we’re alone, I move quickly to help her.

Ignoring the broken cup's shards and the coffee puddle on the floor, I gently take her reddened hand in mine. She still winces, so it must still hurt a bit.

But touching her anyplace is better than not being able to touch her at all, and I move us both over to the sink again to keep cold running water over her minor injury.

“Feel better?” I ask her, standing behind her and guiding her hand in mine under the icy flow from the faucet.

Her body yields to my touch, and I feel her weight leaning back against me.

“It feels better now,” she whispers. I hear a shiver in her breath and move myself a little firmer against her.

A low groan escapes me once I feel the pressure of her back pressing against my aching cock through my jeans.

Her breathing gets fast, and I’m trying to stay focused on her hand, but my hands want to be all over her.

“Should we start over?” I ask her, leaning down, so my mouth is closer to her ear.

“You mean making more coffee?” she asks innocently, keeping her head forward. But her body is sending me a very different message.

Both of us know that if she moves to face me, it will mean only one thing.

“I mean starting over without your dad around,” I whisper hoarsely into her ear, moving one of my hands to stroke her hair back.

I eye her neck, which is only a couple of inches from my hungry mouth.

She turns to face me, looking up into my eyes, “Just stay. Don’t leave because dad is weird,” she says, crimping her mouth.

Looking torn between what I can see we both want and knowing how her dad would take it.

“I’m not going anywhere, May,” I promise her. “Not too far anyway,” I add with a little grin.

She creases her brow in a question.

“If your old man is still shouting at us at dinner tonight, I have a little surprise. For both of you,” I explain without giving anything away just yet.

“What do you mean?” she asks, giving me a sidelong look that reminds me a little too much of her dad’s.

“I mean…,” I tell her. “That you’ll just have to wait. Otherwise, it’s not a surprise.” I grin.

We stand like this for what seems like too long.

Too long to have her close enough to kiss, but every second that passes only seems to make it feel like she’s getting beyond my reach if I don’t.

I feel my head moving toward her face, but gnawing at her lip, May turns away again, focusing on her hand under the cold water.

If I can’t get a kiss just yet, fine, but I’m sure to put both my hands on her hips from behind.

And leaning as close as I dare, I remind her of what I said that day she graduated.

“I meant it, May. You feel so fucking good.”

CHAPTER SEVEN

May

Brandon’s imposing figure towering over me should make me nervous.

And if it was anyone else, I would’ve let them know to keep their hands to themselves way before now.

But he’s answering all my inner questions, dispelling all my doubts without saying what I know we must surely both be thinking by now.

Having him hug me and holding me close is one thing.

But when I feel the undeniable sensation of his arousal pressing against my back, and he grips my hips and repeats the same words he told me on graduation day, I kinda freeze up inside.

Not because I don’t like it.

It’s the most amazing feeling ever. And I know that the way he’s been looking at me isn’t just my imagination anymore.

I just….

Well, let’s just say I’m not as experienced at things such as this that a man of the world like Brandon might like or expect.

The thought of him leaving after he’s just arrived isn’t what I want to hear either. And I feel totally useless because this isn’t my house.

Dad’s house, dad’s rules.

And although my dad’s never openly said it to me, I just know that he’d never tolerate me being with anybody under his roof.

Especially if that someone just happened to be his best friend.

But what really has my brain in a knot is how mysterious Brandon’s being about this ‘surprise.’

As if him coming to town and making eyes at me, then pressing his obvious erection into my back isn’t surprising enough.

Guess I’ll just have to wait.

But I hope dad’s mood improves before tonight. I hope he’s still planning on going ahead with dinner plans that will involve Brandon.
