I stare at him, my cheeks hot.

“Pulling out doesn’t work,” I say in a choked voice. “The failure rate is really high.”

He nods, looking dismayed.

“I know, but it’s what works best for me, and I’ve never gotten a woman pregnant. In fact, my ex-wife and I never used any method of protection other than pulling out, and we were married for over a decade. It works, sweetheart, trust me. With a man who knows what he’s doing, this is a viable solution.”

I stare at him, my cheeks feeling so hot as my breasts tremble a bit. On the one hand, I want to say no. I have to say no because pulling out is crazy! This is what teenage boys tell their girlfriends so that they don’t have to wear a rubber.

But on the other hand, the thought of going hard, fast and unprotected with Blake is absolutely tantalizing. I enjoyed having him in me bare at the theater, and when those hot juices pulsed into my womb, I screamed with ecstasy because I knew I’d given him the ultimate pleasure. It was well worth the risk, but am I ready to let this handsome man do it again? What if we make love constantly? I might be pregnant within days.

At that moment, the waitress comes by with our orders, and we don’t talk as she sets them down on the table. But once she’s gone, leaving us in relative privacy, Blake takes my hand again and looks at me intently from across the table. Oh god, he’s so gorgeous and my insides are dissolving as I stare into his blue eyes. When did my willpower get so weak?

“So what do you say, Cindy?” he growls. “Are you okay with pulling out? I promise, it’s going to be fine.”

I open my mouth, and then shut it. I know what I should say, but the question is: can I put down my foot?

Evidently not because I smile and my body melts with heat as I grip his firm fingers.

“I trust you, Blake. Yes, let’s use the pulling out method because I know you can handle it. Plus, you’ll take care of me and the baby no matter what happens.”

He growls low in his throat, the look in his gaze possessive.

‘Thank you, sweetheart. You won’t regret this.”

With that, Blake leans forward and kisses me at the table, right in front of everyone else. I should be embarrassed to be making out in public, but instead, I yield to him, parting my soft lips beneath that firm, masculine touch. After all, I’m the CEO’s woman, and he always gets what he wants, no matter the consequences.

Cindy

A year later.

I skip a bit while walking down the sidewalk. I’m on my way to a Broadway audition. I’ve done a couple already this week, so I shouldn’t be nervous. Yet I always get nervous, as if every time is the first time. Fortunately, Blake had a kiss and some encouraging words for me when I stepped out the door.

“You’re going to be amazing, Cindy,” he growled while cupping my face tenderly in one hand. “Knock their socks off.”

I giggled while looking up into his deep blue eyes with adoration.

“I will,” I said before pecking him on the lips once more. “Hopefully I get a gig soon because I haven’t gotten any since coming to New York so far! Cross your fingers that this one is the one that ruptures the curse.”

He merely growled low in his chest while giving me a playful slap on the behind.

“Of course you’ll get it. Break a leg, sweetheart,” he rumbled as I skipped off down the hall before pressing the button to the elevator. “You’re going to land this role.”

I merely waved and smiled before getting into our private elevator. After all, Blake lives in the penthouse in a luxurious high end apartment building in Manhattan, and after I graduated from school, I moved in with him.

It was a little weird at first to reveal our relationship to our friends and acquaintances, but after a while, everyone got used to it.

“You can’t be serious,” drawled Flora when I told her the news that I was seriously dating her uncle. “It was just a random blind date. Heck, I only did it so I could get my uncle out of my hair so that I could see … what was his name again? Oh right, Lonnie.”

I nod happily.

“I know, but Blake and I hit it off and I owe it all to you. How did it go, by the way? Was Lonnie everything you expected?”

Flora wrinkled her nose and gave a disgusted wave of her hand.

“He was awful. I can’t believe I’ve been crushing on him since freshman year because that’s four years wasted. I could have focused on so many other things, and instead, I was mooning over him.”
