I should feel used, but I don’t. I’m happy to have him again, happy to taste him again, and pleased to know it won’t be the last time.

“Go,” I tell him, my voice steady despite the emotions swirling inside me.

Jake nods curtly. “You need a burner phone. I assume you know how to get one?”

I practically scoff at his question. “Of course.”

“Good. Get one and I’ll leave a message for you with the concierge with my number. Our families will hate this,” he says, gesturing between us.

“Do you care that everyone in our lives will hate us being together?”

Jake stares me down, giving no response. His silence makes me think that this was nothing more than a hot fuck us and nothing more would come of it.

“Good. I don’t give a damn either.” I lie and stand with the sheet wrapped around me.

Jake presses his lips to mine. “I have to go,” he says quickly pulling away.

“I know,” I tell him with a bittersweet smile, noticing that he doesn’t move away from me. “Go.”

“Bye,” he mutters, a hint of reluctance in his voice as he walks out the door without a second glance.

CHAPTER FIVE

Dix

It’s been two days, and I can still smell Valentina everywhere. It’s like her perfume or lotion or whatever the hell she wears is etched into my brain.

I know I shouldn’t want her. Hell, I should hate her for what her father—and brothers—did to Devon and Jordi, not to mention Sandee and Jordi’s sister. Fuck them all, but all I can think about is fucking Valentina again. Making her mine.

Claiming every fucking inch of her.

“Fuck,” I say out loud, frustrated and annoyed with myself because I can’t get her out of my mind. Maybe I shouldn’t have fucked her after I found out she lied to me.

But when she gave me her room number and those tempting eyes daring me to come to her, I was powerless. I did, and fuck, if the sight of her in that white dress won’t haunt me for the rest of my days.

Seeing her honey-brown ass with my bright red palm prints? I should have taken a fucking picture for my spank bank. I will next time, for sure. Oh, what I’d do to have that ass in my hands right now while I’m fucking her from behind. Those big fucking ass cheeks.

Fuck, now my dick’s hard.

I push thoughts of Valentina aside as I enter the clubhouse, where Ace, Coop, Banger, and the rest of the guys are hanging out.

“Hey, guys. What’d I miss?” I ask, trying to act casual.

"Where have you been?" Coop asks with a grin, but I can't help feeling a twinge of guilt.

I brush it off and reply, “Around. Did you miss me? Does Carmine need her Uncle Dix to rock away her tears?” Coop just flips me off, and I laugh.

God forbid he notices this half-chub.

He rolls his eyes and turns back to his beer, but Ace is watching me, almost as if he knows I’ve been sleeping with the enemy. I shake off that thought and wait for Ace to say what’s on his mind. “I need you to check on Lucky and Aria,” he groans. “And that annoying fucking dog of hers.”

I laugh because I’d been with Aria when she was taken, and the chick takes her little dog more seriously than Dorothy did in Oz. “Am I being punished?”

Ace grins. “Someone’s gotta do it, and you have history with her.”

“Not a good one,” I grumble. I don’t argue, though, because checking on Lucky and Aria is no hardship, even if the woman does get on every last one of my nerves.

“Good luck,” Shades laughs. “Want some bacon bits to gain favor with the mutt?”

He laughs when I scowl, and it’s all in good fun, yet dread settles over me as I approach the ridiculous mansion. Being stuck here was no hardship, but being with Aria and her yapping dog? It was one of Dante’s circles of hell.

As I arrive, Lucky is standing guard outside. “How’s it going?” I ask, and I don’t miss the look of relief on his face when he sees me. “Could be better but we’re getting along well enough.”

I eye him closely to see if he’s telling me the truth, or maybe I’m just projecting because I’m fucking Valentina. “You sure?”

He nods. “She’s fucking annoying.”

I shrug. “At least she’s nice to look at.”

Lucky snort-laughs and takes a drag off his cigarette.

“You better pick up that butt. Don’t be littering out here.”

“I got it, man. No worries.”

I blow out a long exhale before I step inside, preparing myself for the loud screech of her voice because I doubt she’s happy to have around-the-clock babysitters. “Aria?”

“Dix?” Her voice is only slightly annoyed, and for some reason, that gives me hope.

I find her in what she calls the sunroom, lounging in a pink and white striped bikini, sunglasses, and a big straw hat covering her dark hair. As usual, her yappy little dog barks and jumps around at her feet.
