Shit was getting out of control and I don’t like that feeling. As it is I feel like I need to be in two places at once, and everything is fucked in both.

“It’s my fault.”

“You keep saying it’s your fault but you’re not telling me what happened. Why did you do it? Why did you bring that shit up in the first place and what exactly did you say?”

I was trying to keep my cool and not spook her into having one of her attacks, but I was mad as hell at her. She’s been acting out of character ever since their little sleepover and I’ve just about had it with her shit.

I expect her to stay just the way she is, sweet, calm and sheltered. I don’t want any of this ugly shit to touch her and I’d do whatever it takes to keep it away from her. But how am I supposed to do that shit when she goes putting herself in the middle of it?

She told me about their little conversation and it was all I could do not to put my fist through the damn wall. All while we’re trying to protect them, they’re up to this fuck. Like they’re fucking Charlie’s Angels or some shit.

“Do you know how this is going to set him back? How what you did is going to undo all the work me, his dad and everyone else has been trying to do? Note I said is going to, not might.”

“Come on Track, it’s not that serious, besides, the doctor cleared her.”

“Okay now see, you don’t know Jace if you believe that that’s all that’s needed to make this shit right.” If fucking only.

“Tell me, what do you think I would do if I walked into a room and saw you passed out on the floor only minutes after someone else had told you some shit they weren’t supposed to?”

“I see I’ve got your attention. Don’t think that because you’re mine he’d go easy on you, he won’t. Don’t look scared, I’m gonna take care of it but don’t do that shit again.” Now she looked like she wanted to cry. Usually, this is the point at which I’d hold her, but not today, she fucked up.

“Don’t put me in the position of having to protect you against my friend. I’m always going to be on your side no question, but it’s fucked. Don’t do it. And stay the hell outta this shit.”

I walked away to give her some time to think about that shit. I have to go tell Jace the truth now because that’s what we do. And since when did she learn to read me? Just what the hell has she been up to with those girls?

I’m such a damn sap I hooked into her tracker just so we could be close. I bet she gets away with more shit than most because of her asthma. That and I’m all she has. But maybe that shit’s what’s made her spoilt.

I found Jace hovering over Sian in the hospital bed with his mother and hers on either side of her. I caught his attention and he followed me out of the room, but not too far. Just far enough that he could still see her in the room.

I told him what Valerie told me word for word and waited for him to take it all in.

“This is why I don’t tell her shit, why I try to protect her. Her body can’t take this shit, but does she listen? No, because she thinks I’m trying to run her damn life.”

“And what’s wrong with that? We’ll leave that for later. I need to apologize to you. I told you earlier that your girl and her crew were changing my wife, I was wrong, looks like she was the troublemaker."

“You think I blame her for this? What am I new? Sian’s nosy ass was bound to go sniffing at some point. Besides, I think my walking away from her is what triggered this shit.”

“Shit, I just did the same thing to Valerie.”

“They need it. I can’t wait to get the hell out of here and go to the island. Forget Mandy, Stanley and their shit, Sian is the one that’s going to do me the fuck in.”

“By the way, how come you haven’t told the cops about Stanley’s involvement in the explosion? Or at least our suspicions that he’s involved?” Oh boy! That look, damn.

MANDY

Oh shit! I barely ducked my head down in time to be missed. I’d left the house and headed to the hospital. After driving around the parking lot a couple times it was by pure luck that I found the Saunders’ car.

I found a parking spot a few rows back but kept the car well in sight. I couldn’t risk going inside, but I figured if I saw their faces when they came out then I would know if the bitch was dead or alive.
