“I bet.”

Spencer gives me a quick kiss and then grabs my hand. “Come on; I want to show you off to some of my costars.”

I’m laughing as we walk over to one of two familiar faces in the studio. The other is Candy, who I don’t want to talk to, but this one is Ben, who I met at his brother’s party.

“Hey! It’s my favorite Irish goodbyers,” Ben says, enveloping me in a hug. “I’m glad you came today, Leila. This guy doesn’t talk about anything but you.”

Spencer rolls his eyes. “That’s not entirely true.”

“Sure it’s not.”

We chat with Ben for a while, and then Spencer brings me around to the other cast of the movie. I’m intimidated by all the movie stars in one room until I realize I’m dating one of them.

I don’t think of Spencer as a movie star anymore. He’s simply my boyfriend. Yeah, I know he is in movies, and I know people take pictures of us when we’re out together, but it doesn’t feel like he’s anything other than a regular person.

“This is Damien, my other friend in the movie. He’s the one who tries to talk me out of dating Candy’s character because he doesn’t want it to ruin our friendship.”

“Sounds very realistic.”

Damien laughs. “And it’s also realistic that he ignores me. But my character is also in love with the girl, so he had some ulterior motives. You gonna see the movie when it comes out?”

“I’m already planning a girls’ night with my friends so we can watch it!”

Spencer looks at me. “Am I not invited?”

“Absolutely not. It’d be way too weird. I’m already worried about watching you kiss another girl. I don’t need you sitting next to me and making it worse!”

Spencer laughs. “If it’s any consolation, I was thinking about you the whole time I was making this movie. All of those kisses are technically for you.”

My heart melts. “That does help, actually.”

“Aren’t you two cute,” a balding man with puckered lips says. “So this is the girlfriend?”

I look up at Spencer with a question on my face. I’ve never seen this guy before, and I don’t like the way he said girlfriend like we’re faking it.

We’re not. Anymore.

“Leila, this is my agent, Randy. Randy, meet Leila, my girlfriend.” Spencer says girlfriend with a lot of gusto behind it, so much so that Randy takes a step back as he’s shaking my hand.

The man laughs. “There’s no need to lie to me, Spencer. I know your thing with Leila has been fake all along. You wouldn’t really date some random girl you met in a park.”

“Excuse me?” Spencer asks.

“Isn’t today the last day? You two will break up, and everything will go back to normal.”

Spencer looks at me and then back at Randy. I can tell my boyfriend doesn’t know what to say because he isn’t sure what I want him to reveal.

So, I do it myself.

“It’s true Spencer and I were in a fake relationship when this all first started, but that didn’t last very long. We’re really together now.”

Randy’s jaw hits the ground. “You can’t be serious.”

Spencer wraps an arm around my waist. “It’s true. We realized it was silly to be fake in the first place when our feelings toward each other were and are very real.”

Randy sputters. “I can’t believe this.”

“Believe it. And please, be discrete. I know you’ve orchestrated your fair share of fake relationships in the past. There’s no need to air our dirty laundry when it won’t benefit anyone. Leila and I are together, and we care about each other.”

Randy looks between us in disbelief until his face finally turns to one of resolve. “Fine, I guess I have no choice but to believe it. The two of you look like you’re actually happy together. When you find something like that, you have to hold on tight.”

I put my hand on Spencer’s chest. I’m not sure why I feel the need to sell this to Randy. He has been nothing but negative throughout our entire relationship, even when he thought Spencer and I were together for real.

“Thanks, we appreciate your support.”

“Let me know if there’s anything I can do. Try to keep the photogs away from you. Maybe set up some dates. Whatever it is, I’m here for you.”

Spencer disconnects from me to shake his agent’s hand. “Thanks, Randy, that means a lot. We’ll be in touch. Have you gotten any new auditions for me?”

“You have one for a doctor show next week. It’s a three-episode spot, but if the fans like you enough, it could be extended. You never know.”

“Thanks, man. I appreciate it.”

Randy walks away, and I turn to Spencer.

“You’re not actually going to ask him for help with our relationship, right? That man was lying through his teeth!”

Spencer furrows his brow. “I didn’t think so. Randy can be abrasive, but deep down, he’s not a bad guy. He only wants what’s best for me.”
