There’s a squeal behind the door, and Abby barges in.

“I’ve been right outside the whole time. I couldn’t miss this!”

She pulls us both in for a hug, all three of us laughing.

“You’re getting me out of your hair. Rebecca will probably be thrilled, too.”

“You know I loved having you here, but I’m so excited for you to return to California. And I’ll be able to reschedule my trip to visit you!”

Leila laughs. “I’m sorry you had to cancel.”

“It’s fine. We all have things to work through. I’m just glad you two worked it out!”

I kiss Leila once more. “We have, and I’m not letting you go again, Leila. Prepare for so much balance and so much communication.”

She smiles up at me. “I’m ready for it.”

It’s too late to catch a flight back, and Leila has to pack up her things, anyway, so I settle in for the night. We have pizza and catch up on each other’s lives, with Abby happy to third wheel. She smiles at us the entire time, proud of her part in getting us back together.

It’s been a group effort, but Leila and I finally have a chance at our happily ever after.

Epilogue – Leila

A year ago, Spencer and I had basically broken up over a stupid kiss when Candy bombarded him at a club. Today, we’re at a red-carpet premiere event for the last movie he filmed before the deep dive back into TV.

The TV studio that had turned Spencer down for his reputation called when things calmed down, and they offered him the lead role in a streaming drama. It aired last week, with the entire ten-episode season dropping at once, and it has already had rave reviews. It seems Spencer has officially found his calling.

Last I heard, Randy and Candy are doing well with their business venture. I have no idea what they do, and I don’t care, as long as Candy stays away from my boyfriend. Which, so far, she has.

I fix Spencer’s tie in the back of the limo. “Are you nervous? You haven’t done one of these in a while.”

He laughs. “Hardly. It’s still a made-for-TV movie.”

“It’s a movie, though.”

“My last one, hopefully. Now that I’m on the TV show, I feel like I’m a lot calmer. What do you think?”

“I’d agree. We should probably get out there. People are going to think we’re doing something naughty.”

The limo driver bursts out laughing, and so does Spencer.

“Yeah, let’s go. Are you sure you want to walk with me? You can wait inside if it’s too much.”

“I didn’t wear this dress not to be seen!”

“If you’re sure.” He pulls out his phone and sends off a flurry of texts, probably to let his agent know I’ll be joining him after all. He signed with Andrew, who is a million times better than Randy ever was. Spencer tucks his phone away quickly and looks back at me with a smile.

I’m still not used to walking red carpets, but I don’t think there will be too many more in my future, at least not with Spencer as a part of the movie. I’m not a big fan of the flashing lights or the yelling people, but I can do it to support my awesome boyfriend.

He does a lot to support me, too. Rebecca was happy to have me back at Frills West. Spencer flew back to California first, and I followed with Shiloh less than a week later. It took me a little bit to get back into my groove, but things are flourishing both here and at the original office. I take on a limited number of clients, but that means I get to be super picky about the jobs I work. I only do the ones I really want, which is pretty awesome.

I still hang out with Carly and Malia, though Shea never did warm up to me. I also made my own friend, Tiffany, who is the sister of Spencer’s costar in his new show. She’s a super nerd who works in book publishing, so she and I get to hang out and talk about books all the time, which is pretty awesome.

My phone buzzes as Spencer and I climb out of the limo, and I hold it up to show Spencer a picture of Shiloh wearing a cute bowtie.

“Malia is dressing him up!”

“I love it. I’m glad she was able to watch him.”

“She loves doing it. I think she and Mason might just get a dog of their own. When they’re done with the wedding planning.”

Our friends got engaged less than a month after the big fight Spencer and I had. It has been a flurry of wedding planning on top of everything else, but I’ve enjoyed that a lot. Malia was even nice enough to invite Abby to the fall wedding, so I’ll get to see my best friend again in just a few months. She rescheduled her original visit to coincide with the wedding as an escape from the much-cooler New England weather.
