She sobbed. “I’m not going anywhere either,” Blaze spoke up from the door, jerking both of our heads in his direction. He stepped further into the room. “I know I’m a hard ass, Montana, but I do care. And it’s because I care that I’m so hard with you. Jonah is gentle; he’s soothing. I’m not that kind of man; it’s the complete opposite of how I operate.” He crouched in front of the bed and rubbed the pad of his thumb over her bottom lip.

“You want to know how deep my feelings run for you, sweetheart?”

Her lips trembled like she was almost afraid of his answer. John leaned against the door frame. Blaze glanced at him and then at me, like he was contemplating telling her this with an audience.

What the fuck did he do?

He looked back at our woman—because that’s what she was: our woman—and slid his fingers over her jaw until his hand was resting around her neck. She relaxed—fucking relaxed—beneath his touch. And I suddenly realized that though Blaze and I were two totally different people, she needed the way both of us cared for her.

He was hard, while I was soft. It was a stark contrast, but she would have everything she needed between the two of us.

“Your mom is dead,” he quietly told her, “and so is the fucker that beat you.”

What the fuck?

John stepped further into the room, his brows creasing over his eyes. I stared at Blaze with shocked eyes.

Montana circled her hand around his wrist. “You did that . . . for me?”

He nodded at her. “Montana, I’ll burn the entire city to the fucking ground for you. Anyone that hurts you won’t live to see another day. I can’t promise you rainbows and fucking sunshine, but I can promise you that.”

She squeezed her eyes shut, biting back her tears. “It won’t be easy,” she whispered. John snorted.

We both ignored him.

“We know it won’t, baby girl,” I told her. She looked up at me. I brushed my thumb over her cheekbone. “But we’re willing to fight for you every second of every day.”

She swallowed thickly and nodded her head. “Okay,” she whispered. She glanced between the two of us. “Don’t make me regret this. I don’t like being let down.”

Blaze tightened his hand around her throat. “You doubt us already?”

She smiled—fucking smiled. And God, my heart almost couldn’t take how beautiful it made her. “I doubt everything, Blaze.”

He leaned forward and kissed her, and my cock hardened in my jeans at the sight of her beneath him, taking what he was giving her. And when he moved back, I leaned forward to kiss her as well.

This was just the beginning, and I was hoping that by the time this baby was born, she would be completely open to everything we were wanting to give her.

Love. Security. A home. Trust. Dependability.

It wasn’t going to be easy. Fuck no; it was going to be hard as hell. But we would fight for her every single day, just as I’d promised.
