She was standing in the hallway, looking somewhat lost.

“Elizabeth?” I cupped her face in my hands. “What’s wrong?”

“I want you to stay,” she said.

“Stay where?”

“Here.” She looked into my eyes. “With me tonight. Can you please stay?”

I pressed a kiss against her perfect lips. “Yes.”

She unlocked the door, and I followed her into the living room.

Without saying a word, she pulled her blouse over her head and tossed it onto the floor. She unzipped her skirt, and it fell to her ankles.

Her bare pussy glistened, and her lacy black bra begged me to take it off.

“Here,” I stepped closer and unhooked it, pushing the straps down to her shoulders letting it kiss the other fabrics on the floor.

Her cheeks flushed pink as I slowly looked over every inch of her. I couldn’t resist kissing her hardened nipples, gently sucking them between my teeth.

When I pulled away, she loosened my tie and unfastened my shirt button by button. She managed to get my belt buckle off within seconds, and I watched as she pushed my pants and briefs to the floor.

My cock was rock hard, and I was ready to take her down right here, but she grabbed my hand and pulled me into the bathroom.

She stepped into the shower, and I followed suit.

We stared at each other as the steam fogged the glass around us, and before I could push her against the wall, she got down on her knees.

Looking up into my eyes, she grabbed my cock and teased my tip with her tongue.

Then she slid it between her lips inch by inch.

“God, Elizabeth…” I groaned as she let me hit the back of her tight throat.

Still staring at me, she moved her mouth up and down my length, making me harder each time.

“Can I swallow?” she asked.

“You don’t have to ask me that…” I gently cupped the back of her head, releasing into her mouth.

She swallowed every drop, and I pulled her up and spun her around, sliding into her all at once.

I bit the shell of her ear. “So fucking perfect…”

We didn’t bother getting dressed. After toweling each other off, she curled against my chest in bed.

I held her close as she slept, and for some strange reason, I slept for a personal best of four and a half hours.

ELIZABETH

The following Monday

“Good morning, Miss Tanner!” Jessica greeted me as soon as I walked into the firm. “Did you have a good weekend?”

“It was decent.”

“Just decent?” She crossed her arms. “How is that possible?”

“I just caught up on a lot of work with Mr. Carter.”

“From the way he walks, I refuse to believe he’s anything less than a twenty out of ten when it comes to that type of work.”

“Huh?”

“You don’t look the slightest bit flushed and you’re walking completely normal.” She tapped her lip. “Maybe I overhyped him in my head.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Nothing.” She placed a notebook in my hands. “Since Michelle is still living in her sad girl era, I’ll be helping you out for a little longer.”

I smiled at her. She was one of my favorite people here.

“The FBI called and asked to speak with Mr. Carter, so can you tell him to call them back?”

“Sure. What’s it about?”

“Um, with the client list you two have, who knows?” She shook her head. “In the meantime, here’s your updated hearing schedule and you need to show your face in the cafe a bit more starting today.”

“Why?”

“You need to have 'girl talk' with your fellow associates.” She motioned for me to head that way. “Build connections here whenever you can. Trust me.”

“Is Mr. Carter upstairs?”

“He’s out stalking that condo again,” she said. “Hopefully, he’ll let that case go at some point.”

Before I could ask her something else, she walked away, so I went to the cafe.

A group of second-year associates stood around a high table and sipped lattes.

I approached them with a smile.

“Hey there, Elizabeth!” Rita said. “Are you finally out of the tombs?”

“Yeah. I got out a while ago.”

“Good to hear.” She peered at my folder. “They’re letting you handle clients?”

I nodded.

“Lucky you.” She scoffed. “I’m a glorified client soother and courtroom watcher.”

“Mr. Carter lets you help with cases, Elizabeth?” Amanda asked.

“It’s probably only the simple ones,” Rita said. “Right?”

No, all of them. “Yes.”

“I knew it,” she said. “I guess we all have to pay our dues until—”

“They trust us,” they say in unison, sharing a line Damien has never once uttered to me.

“On the plus side, the theater room here has allowed me to catch up on all my favorite shows during my breaks.”

“Tell me about it,” another girl said. “I love this office. I never want to leave this building.”

They chatted about everything they loved about this place, and I thought about how I suddenly felt confined and wanted to deal with something outside these walls.
