I’ll give her dad this. He’s got bigger balls than the doorman, because he charges right up and locks his grip around Summer’s wrist. “You’re making a scandal of yourself. Get inside while we wait for the police.”

“Let go!” She struggles against him.

“Summer!” He raises his other hand as if he’s about to backhand her. “Don’t you dare speak to me like—”

And that’s as far as he gets before I deck him.

My fist connects solidly with his face and there’s a satisfying wet crunch I hope fucking broke his nose. He reels backwards, and would’ve ended up right on his ass if some slimy looking flunky wasn’t there to catch him.

“Move!” I snap, and pull Summer with me. I swing my leg back over the bike. She climbs on behind me, her skirt flapping behind her and exposing two long, smooth legs I’d like to get a closer look at. She wraps her arms around my torso, her tits smashed right into my back as she holds on for dear life even though we haven’t even moved yet.

Recovered, but with blood pouring down his face, her dad starts towards us again. Time to go.

Summer screams as my back wheel spins before catching on the asphalt and flinging us forwards. People yell, but I can’t hear what they’re saying, and honestly? I don’t give a fuck. A couple moments and a few turns later, and the restaurant is nothing but a memory in the darkness behind us.

Well, that was fun, but now what?

I drive a little aimlessly, making random turns and backtracking occasionally to hide our tracks, then pull into an alley and kill the engine. She’s still clinging to me, soft and warm. Does she know what club members would think if they saw her riding on the back of my bike? Probably not. Extenuating fucking circumstances, anyway, right? But I have to admit, I don’t fucking hate the feeling either.

When she lets go, it’s slowly and carefully, like she’s frozen and in shock.

“Summer? You okay?”

“I don’t even know what that means anymore.” She wraps her arms around herself and shivers.

Fuck, she’s probably cold, not just freaked out. I’ve got my leathers, while she’s been dealing with the wind in nothing but a scrap of ripped fabric that barely covers anything below her waist while she’s straddling the saddle.

I peel off my jacket. “Here. It’ll keep you warm.”

After a very skeptical glance, she slips her arms into the sleeves and nearly disappears. It’s cute as fuck. There’s something about seeing her wear my patch, sitting on the back of my bike, that makes me feel really fucking possessive all of a sudden. She’s Crash’s fucking… something, which makes her ours, and now that the danger’s past, it’s a lot fucking harder to ignore how damn sexy she is.

Emphasis on fucking.

“Thanks,” she mumbles, ducking her head and looking at her hands.

I’m so bad at this shit. What would Preacher do? He’s the words guy. “You wanna talk about it?”

Something scurries over a garbage can in the alley, knocking over a box. Summer looks up and sees a rat standing on its hind legs, watching us curiously. Cute little fucker, but she doesn’t seem to think so.

She shudders and hunches even further down in my jacket. “Can we go somewhere else?”

“Yeah, yeah, I got you. Ambiance, right?” We’re outside of Eagles territory and I don’t know this city very well, so I whip out my phone and find a bar that shouldn’t cause issues if someone spots the patch. Something rough enough to welcome my bike, but not so rough that I might end up in some sort of pissing contest with another club. “Grab on. I’m not good at holding hands and feelings and shit, but I know what makes me feel better. Let’s go get wasted.”

“I don’t—”

“Then you should start.” I rev my bike and take us back out of the alley. Summer yells some shit, but now that we’re riding, I have no idea what.

They’re bound to be looking for us. Fuck, I bet my description is already getting blasted around town, but they won’t be searching for us in some dive bar. Lying low for a few hours should help get the heat off. Whatever the fuck happened, she sounds like she could use a stiff drink or two, even if she doesn’t fucking know it yet.

And I wanna get to know her a little better. I can fucking admit that.

Besides, Crash said I was good to go.

I’m sure he won’t mind.

SUMMER

“These are so good!” I gesture wide with my arm, sloshing a little of the drink in the process. “What did you say this one was?”

Devil laughs. “It’s a Blue Hawaiian, and you might want to slow down a little. Those girly drinks hit hard and fast, baby.”
