I pound Grayson's wrist into the wall, over and over until he loses his grip, and the piece clatters away. He’s still dizzy, making it easy to grab his collar with both fists and give his head the same treatment. After a couple of solid thumps, he crumples and lies still. Probably not dead, but I'm not going to fucking cry if he is either. For now, out of the action is good enough.

That gunshot put a countdown on our time. Security's going to be here any moment. I bust open the door to Summer's room. The fucker's still between her legs, and those are some amazing legs to be between, but we don't have time for it.

“Fucking can't leave you alone for a second, can I? Get your cock back in your pants. Time to go, kids.”

Summer screams and Crash puts a hand over her mouth. “What’s going on? Ow! Fucking watch it!” He yanks his hand away.

“No time. Get dressed and get moving.” I grab Grayson’s feet and drag his unconscious body into the bedroom. “Security's going to be here any second.”

“Shit, is he…?”

“Nah, just taking a little nap.”

Crash is already moving, pulling his clothes back on. “Get dressed,” he snaps at Summer who’s staring wide eyed and slack jawed at Grayson. Fuck, Crash made a mess on her. Hope he’s ready to share next time.

I move to the bed and block her view. “You can freak out later, angel. Right now, if you don’t want us carrying you out of here naked, get some fucking clothes on.”

“Y—yeah, right. Of course.” She looks like she’s on the verge of breaking down the whole time, but she wipes herself off with her shirt thrown over the chair next to her bed, then raids her closet and manages to get dressed and grab whatever can fit in her purse.

Get the fuck out of there! Devil sends.

I’d love to tie our mutual friend up, but there’s no time. I can already hear yelling outside. “Quick!”

Crash leads the way, with Summer close behind and me taking the rear guard because they know this place better than I do. Heavy footsteps are coming up the main stairs, so we run towards the back.

Summer stops short. “I need my phone.”

“Move,” Crash and I growl at the same time.

Showing more spine than I expect, considering how she looked a minute ago, she ignores us and ducks into what looks like an office. She’s back just as quick. “Got it.”

A beefy guy charges down the hall behind us. I catch his jacket and launch him into the wall. He hits it hard and rolls on the floor, clutching his shoulder and swearing.

“There’s no fucking time to climb trees,” I say. “What’s the fastest way out?”

Crash frowns, then nods. “Come on.” He draws his piece and charges straight for a huge stained glass window.

“Crash!” Summer screams as he fires three times, blasting it wide open in a shower of rainbow glass.

He doesn’t stop, pulling up his jacket to protect his face and clearing the way for us to follow him out onto a ledge. We’re on the second floor, and there’s grass underneath. He doesn’t hesitate, landing with a groan and rolling fast to his feet. He holds up his arms.

Crazy bastard. I can’t help the wild grin on my face as I sweep Summer off her feet and throw her down. She screams, but lands safely in Crash’s arms. He puts her down on her feet while I jump.

Landing hurts like fuck, but not nearly as much as getting shot. “Let’s go.”

SUMMER

I think I'm screaming, but with the wind tearing past me, who really knows? My throat is raw, though. I cling to Crash with every ounce of my strength so I don't fall off the back of his bike. When Devil picked me up at the restaurant, I thought that was scary, but we never rode like this.

I bury my face into the back of his leather jacket to keep the sting of the wind off my face. It's hard to tell with the rumbling of the motorcycle, but I think I can feel his heart beat through his back, and I focus on it, trying to calm myself.

Yeah, good luck with that.

So much happened in the last hour I can't process it all.

I had sex. In my bed. WITH JACOB. Crash, whatever. And he almost finished in me!

I don’t know a single thing about what my life is going to be like from here out. Not where I’ll sleep tonight, or what I’ll do in the morning. Nothing.

And Preacher beat the hell out of Grayson! Okay, maybe it makes me a bad person, but that was awesome. I hope he’s all right, though. I despise Grayson, but I don't want him dead.

And now this? The fear starts receding, replaced by something I haven’t felt in a really long time. Hope.
