“Do it already,” I growled, each syllable a struggle. “Bite me.”

“Oh, fuck yes.” Ezra pulled me so tight that I could feel the dampness of his cockhead against the base of my spine as he attacked my shoulder, finding the spot where it met my neck, tender skin that was usually under a collar but was now his for the taking.

And he obeyed my request, teeth digging into my flesh, the pain of the contact transforming into the most intense pleasure I’d ever known. Ezra kept stroking my cock, and I made a keening noise, ass clenching, abs rippling, every muscle coiling.

“Gonna…” My warning was comically late as the pleasure peaked, and I opened my eyes in time to see ropes of my come hit the shower wall.

“That’s right, baby, come,” he urged. And I wanted to tell him that I was no one’s baby, but it felt too damn good, how he soothed the spot he’d bit with little kisses and pet my chest with the gentlest of fingers.

“Oh.” I exhaled what felt like thirty-odd years of tension, one of my hands finding his on my chest, holding him there with me.

“Yeah. Fuck. You’re the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.” His thrusts against me grew more erratic, harder against my ass, and he moved his hand from my spent cock to my hip, giving him even more purchase. “Duncan. Damn.”

I really did love my name on his lips, and I gave a pleased huff. Which he must have liked because he moaned again.

“Do it. Come on me.” I closed my eyes again, riding the wave along with him, body tensing anew with how damn much I wanted him to come.

“Oh, man. You’re gonna get me there.” He dug his fingers into my hipbone, and I moaned at the same time he did.

“Fuck me.” I wasn’t sure where the words came from, only that I wanted him to come more than I’d wanted just about anything, and there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t have given to make that happen.

“Yeah. Yeah,” Ezra chanted over and over as his movements intensified, and then he was shaking, painting my back and ass with his come as he dropped kiss after kiss on my shoulders.

“Damn.” He laughed as he rested his head against mine. “I was right. You really are something.”

Hands on my shoulders, he urged me to turn back toward him. I almost didn’t want to go, feeling too raw and exposed after…whatever the hell that had been. But my body obeyed even as my mind raced. And every gentle touch as Ezra soaped and washed us off made me that much wobblier. I’d never been in more uncertain territory, and for someone who prided himself on having a plan for every situation, that was downright terrifying.

“There. All clean.” He smiled like a lazy cat right before he kissed me soft and slow, the last of the hot water sluicing over us. My body shuddered, overwhelming emotion as much as more orgasmic aftershocks.

“Water’s getting cold,” I said gruffly, breaking the kiss.

“Not sure I care.” Ezra was all good humor as he turned off the shower. He tossed me a towel. “But fine, have it your way. End my fun.”

Fun. That’s all this was to him. I had no idea what it was to me, but not that. Not fun. Not a lark, something to laugh at. I was no stranger to hookups, but I’d always hated this awkward after part, which hit me even harder this time because Ezra was so obviously relaxed and happy. Fun. He’d had fun. I’d had a nearly out-of-body experience, and he’d had fun.

“I should…uh…let you nap.” I dried off in record time, cursing the fact that my bag was still back in the main room. I tied the towel around my waist, not risking a glance over at Ezra before I headed to the bathroom door. “I’ll collect you before the sound check.”

“You will not.” His voice managed to be both stern and teasing.

“I have to. It’s my—”

“I mean, you’re not leaving.” Hell, he was right behind me. He put a hand on my shoulder, thwarting my grand escape. “You’re staying right here.”

Chapter Twelve

Ezra

“You’re ordering me to stay?” Somehow, while wearing only a towel, Duncan managed to look as pompous as a senator at some official function.

I avoided rolling my eyes, but it was a close thing. Naturally, Duncan would have to go and make this awkward, reminding us that I was technically his client. Technically. I sure as hell hadn’t felt remotely businesslike in the shower, and I’d been thinking we were building toward something approaching a friendship, the sort of relationship I had with all my bandmates and crew. Sure, money flowed between us, but Kate and my accountant handled all those logistics. I’d neither wanted nor attempted to be the boss of anyone.
