“Yeah, but what’s not a lie is that I would have married you the day I met you, Tennessee Lynn.” My breath catches as my tears fall faster, my love so damn great for this beautiful man. “I have and always will love you with every single ounce of my body and soul. I know for a fact that our souls are meant to be one and that my life isn’t worth a damn unless you are in it.”

He starts to lower to one knee, his eyes never leaving mine. “Everything about you makes me happy. Your smile, your laugh, the purse of your lips, the passion you have for me, and every bit of how greedy you are.” He sends me a knowing wink that leaves me breathless. “You rattle me, baby doll, to the core. But you also steady me.”

I swallow past my sob as I whisper, “I love you.”

His breath catches before he reaches into his pocket and brings out a red box. He opens it to reveal the most stunning orange diamond engagement ring I’ve ever seen. It’s huge, surrounded by smaller diamonds encrusted on a platinum band. My hand comes over my mouth in shock, my heart slamming in my chest as our eyes meet once more. “When I asked your dad if I could marry you, he laughed and asked if I was even sure you’d say yes,” he tells me, and I shake my head. My daddy is a riot. “I’m not scared you’ll say no, Tennessee. I know you’ll say yes because I know that you love me, that nothing can come between us as long as we have each other.”

I wipe my face, unable to look anywhere but into his blue eyes.

“You are not only good to me, but to Sabine, and I can’t thank you enough for that. For making our home hers.”

“I love you both.”

“And I love you more for that,” he says, not only making that promise with his words, but his eyes too. I’m lost in them. “Put me out of my misery, Tennessee Lynn. Be mine forever. Be my baby doll, my greedy girl, my dragon queen,” he teases, and laughter bubbles from me as I fall to my knees in front of him. I cup his face as our foreheads press together, our noses colliding just as hard as our loving gazes. He sucks in a deep breath and then lets it out in a whoosh before he says to me, “Be my wife, Tennessee.”

I run my fingers along his jaw, my heart a jackhammer in my chest as I stare into his eyes. “As if I have any choice in the matter,” I tease as his lips curve. “Because I’ve been yours since that second round of tequila shots.” Light shines deeply in those blue depths as he holds me close. “So yes, D’Artagnan Athos Porthos Aramis Miklas, I want nothing more than to be your wife.”

His lips capture mine, and we wrap our arms around each other as my heart sings for him. Our kiss is long, drawn-out, and has my heart exploding in my chest for this passionate, strong-willed man. When we part, both gasping for breath, he slides his nose along mine as he whispers, “I’m gonna love you forever, baby doll.”

“And then some,” I add, and his eyes sparkle for me.

“And when that’s not enough, I know I’ll find you again, Tennessee.”

My body tingles under his gaze, his words, his heart. “I’ll always be waiting, and I won’t ghost you again. Promise.”

Dart’s eyes dance with mine. “I won’t make that mistake again.”

“I won’t either.”

I press my lips to his top one, and he whispers, “I love you.”

Oh, those three words. If I weren’t already on my knees, I’d fall to them once more. My favorite words to hear from his naughty lips and the same words that are just as easy as breathing to say back to him.

With my lips brushing his, I whisper back, “I love you.”

Our lips move together again, and just like the moment in that hotel room all those months ago, I know I’ll never be the same.

Not when my soul belongs to this man.

My everything, my nerdy dragon king—but most of all, my forever.
