“Sounds like heaven to me,” Daniel said with a happy sigh. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
“Nope. Just have a seat and relax,” he said, motioning toward the chair opposite the captain’s.
Daniel nodded and tucked his backpack under the seat before settling in.
With the boat fully prepped, Edward started the engine. It sputtered once and then roared angrily. He’d chosen a small boat that fit only a few people and was built for speed. It would come in handy, not that he was expecting any kind of trouble. He could handle Daniel with no problem.
Within minutes, they were out of the little harbor and away from Bermuda and its collection of tiny coral atolls. The waters grew even bluer away from the islands. Edward took them around the island, pointing out the beaches that held some of the place’s distinct pink sand. He found himself promising to even take Daniel to one of the hidden coves before he realized what was coming out of his mouth. No matter. Private time worked for him. The more Daniel trusted him, the more he’d relax. And that would be when he’d slip up.
Once they circled the island, Edward directed the boat out into the ocean. The waves were calm and the winds were tame, making it a lazy summer day. When they could no longer make out a hint of land or human life, Edward killed the motor, leaving the boat to bob on the water.
Daniel stood up from the chair and spread his legs against the rocking of the boat. He slowly moved in a circle, taking in the vast blue nothingness that surrounded them on all sides. Edward closely watched his face, but if there was any fear or trepidation about being in the middle of nowhere with a relative stranger, not a hint of it showed.
“This is amazing,” Daniel breathed. He was speaking close to a whisper as if he were afraid of disturbing the fish. “You’re right. It’s like we’re the last two people on the earth.”
Lounging in his chair, Edward snagged Daniel’s hand and pulled him over so that he was standing between his legs. “Is that a bad thing?”
“No! Not at all. I…I just…I never thought I could feel so isolated.”
“And you feel safe with me?” Edward could have kicked himself as soon as the words were out of his mouth. What the fuck was he thinking, asking such a question? He didn’t want Daniel thinking of any reason he might feel unsafe.
Daniel snorted and shook his head. “Of course I feel safe with you. I wouldn’t have agreed to come boating with you if I didn’t. Last night wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t feel safe with you.”
“True.”
Edward captured his lips in a rough kiss that had Daniel moaning and leaning heavily against him. Strong hands slid up his arms and across his shoulders, kneading muscles in an amazing touch that had his cock filling. Only this time, they were completely alone on the ocean and could do something about it.
Sucking Daniel’s lower lip into his mouth, he gently bit down before letting it slip free again. “Do you want to have some fun, or would you rather have a drink and chill?”
Daniel’s sheepish expression was back as he smiled at Edward. “Do you mind if we have a drink and chill first? Have some fun later?”
“Sounds good to me.”
And honestly, it did. Sex would have been great, but getting Daniel talking always created the opportunity for the man to slip up. And that would help Edward get his job done that much faster.
“I packed some beers in there. Can you grab me one?” Edward pointed to the small cooler at the rear of the boat in front of the bench seat.
Daniel started to walk over, but on a whim, Edward grabbed his arm and pulled him back between his legs for another rough but quick kiss. “Thanks for agreeing to come out with me and trusting me.”
A beautiful smile spread across Daniel’s face, lighting up his features. “Thanks for inviting me,” he replied, his voice almost a purr.
God, this man is sexy.
Edward was starting to think that maybe he’d drag his feet on this job a little, stretch out their time together. Daniel was too sexy for his own good. Edward could stick close to him, gather information, keep the bastard from selling any secrets, and have some spectacular sex. His other missions certainly weren’t getting him laid this much.
Daniel slipped away from him and walked carefully to the cooler. Edward tried not to watch him bend over. Well, he didn’t try that hard, because that was one spectacularly fine ass. But he finally ripped his eyes away so he could focus on setting the anchor. He figured they could chill out in the middle of nowhere for a bit, listen to the waves breaking around them and lapping against the hull of the boat. They’d talk and get some sun.
