Kissing Mila tends to have that effect on me…

Shit. I might be here for a while.

Epilogue

Rylan

One year later…

“Rylan,” Mila whispers as she grabs onto my shirt and pulls my ear down to her lips. “My coworkers are looking at my vagina.”

“I know,” I whisper back, trying not to laugh. “It’s okay. They’re just trying to help.”

We’re at her hospital and she’s giving birth to our first child. I’m so nervous but I know that my mate is a total rockstar. She’s doing great.

“Just keep pushing,” I whisper to her as she squeezes my hand. “Elliot will be out soon.”

We’re having a boy.

I’m so excited that I can barely breathe. Mila has already given me so much and now she’s giving me a child. One of many I hope…

The doctor and nurses help her through the labor as I hang back by her head, offering emotional support.

It’s not long after she’s pushing hard that the doctors are handing us a squirming crying baby boy.

We both tear up as we stare at him in awe. He’s gorgeous. A little miracle.

With our new family in place, the doctor and nurses quietly exit the room, giving us some bonding time.

“I can’t believe he’s real,” Mila says as he grips onto her finger. “I mean, I can touch him and feel him breathing, but it’s not registering in my head. This is surreal.”

“It’s incredible,” I say as my chin quivers. “You’re incredible, Mila. Look what you brought into the world.”

She looks up at me and gives me one of those breathtaking smiles. “We brought into this world.”

Her sweaty hair is plastered to her face, her eyes are red and bloodshot, and her cheeks are swollen and puffy, but she’s never looked more beautiful to me. She truly is an angel.

And I truly am the luckiest man on the planet.

“I can’t believe we’re parents,” she says as she turns back to the little guy. “Hi, Elliot. I’m your mother and this hot hunk of man is your father. Hopefully, you take after him in the looks department.”

“Oh, please,” I say with a laugh. “He’d be much luckier to look like you.”

“Well, luckily it’s not up to us or we’d be disagreeing forever.”

We can’t seem to take our eyes off of him. Elliot is like a campfire in that way. You can stare at him for hours.

And that’s exactly what we do.

I only occasionally peel my eyes off him to look at Mila.

She’s an amazing woman and I’m so happy I get to share the rest of my life with her.

I would gladly break every bone in my body again if that’s what it took to be by her side.

Now, we have a child (one of many I hope) and I can’t wait to see what else our future has in store.

I know it’s going to be amazing because we’ll be together.

Forever.

Just us and our happy little family.

Epilogue

Mila

Ten years later…

“Oh my god,” I whisper under my breath when I walk into the room.

Every day it’s the same thing.

It’s summer vacation and all four of my kids are draped across the couches while they watch their tablets. I just got back from my spinning class and these little animals are still not out of their pajamas at eleven o’clock.

“Excuse me,” I say in my fiercest mom voice as I tap the floor with my foot. Only my youngest Valerie turns around to look at me and even then it’s with only one eye.

“Tablets off!” I shout. “Right now!”

It’s all groans and moans and complaining as they slowly turn them off, each trying to suck in a precious few more seconds of animated junk food for the brain.

“Summer vacation is for playing outside,” I say as I take one tablet away after another. Each kid freaks out, screeching like a hyena as I take their tablet away. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting some enjoyment out of it. I feel like an all-powerful god as I yank them away from their little freaked out hands.

“Dad said we could watch our tablets,” Elliot says with a defiant stare.

I laugh. “Yeah, right. Where is your father anyway?”

That’s when I hear the shower running upstairs. The heat starts to bloom within me when I picture Rylan’s naked body up there with beads of water running between the hard deep muscular ridges.

“He said we could,” Valerie says, echoing her older brother.

“When I was a kid we didn’t have tablets. We played outside during the summer.” Oh god, I sound like my mother.

They all roll their eyes. “There’s bugs outside,” Declan whines.

“And it’s too hot,” Alyssa says with a sour face.

“Can we play video games on the TV?” Elliot asks and they all agree that this is a fabulous idea.

“No screens!” I shout. “When was the last time you played outside?”

“I put out the garbage last night,” Declan says proudly.
