People who could have taken Western out and not be questioned for it.

“You know he blames himself,” I say, leaning my hip against the counter. “He thinks he deserves what happened to him because he didn’t stay with Braithe.”

“Can’t take that guilt from him. Don’t even try. He is broken, my boy, but he’s strong. No words from your lips, pretty as they are, will change what he feels deep in his soul.”

He’s right.

I know that.

“It just makes me so angry that Bill walks around, free as a bird, and Western had his life pulled out from beneath him.”

Colt smiles, but it isn’t friendly, it’s cold. He leans in close. “His day is coming.”

Turning, he leaves me standing, watching him disappear up the stairs.

I hope he’s right.

I hope Bill’s day is coming.

Because God knows, I’ll be front and center when it arrives.

My eyes locking onto Western as he walks behind the bar, taking a drink without acknowledging me, has everything inside me feeling almost desperate. I know he’s angry at me, I know, but I can’t handle much more of him acting like I’m not even in the same room as him. Curling his fingers around an entire bottle of whiskey, he moves out and goes over to the sofa beside the bike display and sits down, unscrewing the top.

A girl saunters over, her eyes trained on him.

She’s going in for the kill, and I’m not going to sit back and watch it.

From what I’ve heard, Hazel did a runner. Apparently, she had enough and packed her things and walked. Nobody has seen or heard from her since. Western made it clear that she wasn’t welcome back, and even though it looks bad for him, Fury told me that he’s declared himself a free man now. It makes sense. That marriage idea, while it was seemingly good at the time, really wasn’t going to work.

Not if the two of them didn’t have any sort of connection.

Fury told me that Hazel was being paid a lot to sit back and be a good little wife to boost Western’s reputation, which is why she hadn’t left sooner, but Western is now refusing to pay her a single cent. Probably the reason she hasn’t returned. It made me feel a little better, hearing that, because my mind continually goes back to the night I spent with him, and I wouldn’t like to know he was doing that behind her back.

I didn’t peg him for the cheating type.

Now, though, Shirl’s words play in my mind as I toss my cloth down and walk out from behind the bar. If you want one of these men, you make it known he isn’t free, otherwise those girls will never leave. Western might not be mine, and I’m not cocky enough to strut over there thinking he is, but I’m also not going to sit back and wait while he decides if he’s ever going to talk to me again. If what happened between us was a once off, then he’s going to damn well look me in the eye and tell me that before sliding his dick into something else.

I reach him just as the young blond sits down beside him, her skirt way too short as she spreads her legs, giving him a sultry smile. She’s wearing a tiny pair of panties, and I can basically see everything she has to offer as she runs her hand up and down his thigh, pressing her tits against his arm. Stopping in front of them, I glance down at the girl and loudly announce, “Your flaps are hanging out.”

She stares up at me, keeping the smile, but a flush of color runs to her cheeks. “That’s the point, love.”

Western’s eyes are on me now, and I can see the tiniest flash of curiosity in them.

“Well, can you take them somewhere else. I need to speak with Western.”

She runs a hand down his chest. “You mean Nightmare.”

“I mean, Western,” I say, holding her glare as she challenges me further.

“As you can see,” she strokes a hand over his cock, “he’s busy.”

I’m more than a little frustrated, mostly because she has her hands on him and he strictly instructed me that I wasn’t to put any part of myself on him. Which, if you ask me, was uncalled for considering this woman has her hands all over him and fuck only knows where those hands have been.

Great, now my thoughts are acting like I’m some sort of insane, jealous woman and I’m not.

I turn and walk away, not wanting to dig myself any deeper.

I’ve already made enough people in this club angry.

I need air, so I walk outside and into the cool night. There are bikers milling around, but mostly, it’s quiet. Car lights move in and out from the front of the club and voices echo through the quiet night. I find a spot by a large tree in the yard and sit down, pressing my back to it and exhaling. I want to go home. So much it hurts. I close my eyes and take a minute to just unwind.
