His face scrunched up and he sighed. “Um…”

I managed not to laugh, but it was close. “Start anywhere. Just tell me what you’re thinking.”

Nodding slowly, probably to take up time, he turned his head and kissed my hand before nuzzling me again. Oh yeah, someone was definitely working on distracting me. I stood my ground, though, and waited. Eventually, he huffed and shrugged again.

“Um, I’m not sure I would be a very convincing vanilla boyfriend around you?” My soft laughter had him giving me a flirty smile. It must’ve given him a boost of confidence because as he continued, the questioning tone faded. “I think we show what our regular dynamic is like. Teasing. Flirting. Whatever is normally us, and I’ll do my best to do the same thing with Ian?”

Now his hesitation was back.

“Yes.” Kissing his head, I wrapped my legs tighter around him. “I want to see your Daddy side come out. We just need to figure out the right dynamics to let you be his Daddy and my sub. We’ll figure it out.”

I just wasn’t sure how it would look.

How did other people in a relationship like this figure it out? I’d met a variety of people in poly groups over the years, and a few had switches. So other people had already figured this out. I didn’t need to reinvent the wheel; I just needed research.

Having a place to start settled some of my unease and I gave Bishop another soft kiss. “I just want you both to know that we’re going to get this wrong a few times before we get it right.”

My sweet pup looked up at me hopefully. “But we’ll get it right.”

I hoped so.

“Yes, it just might take some time.” Because I wasn’t sure what he was looking for or what was reasonable to aim for.

“We’ll get it worked out.” He sat up, throwing his arms around me. “Thank you.”

Kissing his cheek as I wrapped him in my arms, I chuckled. “For dinner?”

Shaking his head, he curled into me. “For all of it. Being patient and not thinking this was too much drama?”

“Nothing you do is drama, pup.” I gave him a teasing sigh. “But you are a bit high maintenance. That’s a little unexpected.”

Laughing, he tried to shake his head. “No, I’m very easygoing and boring.”

“Maybe the old Bishop was that way, but Leashes & Lace seems to be contagious because I did not meet a boring pup.” His giggle said he agreed. “I met a fascinating, feisty pup who’s a complicated person…and I like that much better than boring.”

“Much better?” His flirty tone said he was aiming to shift the conversation…but I wasn’t sure we had time for that at the moment.

Stroking my hands down his back, I nibbled on his neck and let him feel my desire. “Yes, pup.”

Squeezing his ass, I smiled as he let out a low moan. “I really like interesting…and I think that should be rewarded.”

Sucking in a breath, he pressed tighter against me. “I like rewards, Sir.”

I bet he did.

But I gave his ass a tap, chuckling as he huffed. “But first we need to make reservations and plan out our evening.”

Because what if dinner went great?

Then what?

I was starting to think that the most stressful outcome wasn’t the evening going badly…what happened if dinner went well?

When had my life gotten this complicated?

Would it be unreasonable to blame Eli?

Chapter 22

Ian

What was the right way to address my Daddy’s Dom?

Shit.

What was I supposed to call him?

I probably should’ve thought about that before walking up to them in the parking lot, but clearly advanced planning wasn’t my strong suit.

Neither was advanced panicking…because it wasn’t until I saw Cohen standing by Bishop and watching me so intently that my stomach started to churn.

Shit.

I was going to have dinner with Cohen.

He really was gay.

“Hi.” I was fighting the urge to fidget or ramble, so I made sure to keep my greeting simple.

Bishop of course was very Bishopy.

He beamed and stepped away from his Dom to hug me tight and even kissed my head, not hiding our relationship at all. “They have wonderful desserts, so my bribe is complete…for now.”

He gave me a teasing wink as he stepped back, nearly giggling as I groaned. “I’m trying to make a good impression. Don’t do that.”

Cohen laughed, not fazed by Bishop in the slightest. “I don’t think he can help himself.”

Scoffing, I rolled my eyes and stood straighter. “He just likes stirring…stuff up.”

That sentence didn’t sound right without shit, but I knew better than to throw it in. Bishop hadn’t missed it, though. He nodded, and for a second, playful Bishop was gone and Daddy Bishop was standing in front of me. “Good boy.”

Cohen didn’t miss the change either, so I knew it wasn’t just in my head. He simply studied his pup curiously. I waited for some kind of reaction from him, but he just smiled at Bishop like he was proud of him.
