We should be talking, not kissing. But despite Dev’s misgivings, his body responded to Ewan’s touch. A hopeless wave of longing mingled with desire swept through him, and he put his arms around Ewan and kissed him back. Dev poured all his feelings into the kiss as he clung to Ewan—all the things he couldn’t find the words for—and it was as though Ewan was saying them back. The tension in Ewan’s hands, the arch of his body against Dev’s, the hungry pull of his lips and the thrust of his tongue in Dev’s mouth…. It felt real and meaningful, and Dev’s heart broke a little at the thought of losing it if Ewan didn’t feel the same way he did.

He tried to pull away, but Ewan wouldn’t let him.

“Dev,” Ewan whispered hoarsely, his lips just millimetres away from another kiss.

His breath was sweet with wine, his hand warm on the nape of Dev’s neck where he held him close.

Dev made a helpless sound and fell back into the kiss. Soon they were rocking against each other, hard and desperate. Dev didn’t want to come in his pants out there in the street, but he didn’t want to stop either. When they kissed like this, nothing else mattered.

Ewan was the one to break the kiss next. Chest heaving as he panted, he stared at Dev in the dim light from the street lamps, his lips wet and his eyes wild.

Dev jerked his head towards his front door. “Do you want to come inside?” He wasn’t ready for the night to be over. Every cell in his body craved Ewan, having him was all he could think about. Logic and reason could wait until morning. Was that what obsession felt like? Was it love, or lust? Whatever it was, Dev suddenly understood why people did crazy things in the name of passion. He knew this was a bad idea, knew they needed to talk, but right then he’d take whatever Ewan would give him.

“Yeah.” Ewan’s voice was a husky croak.

Dev took his hand and they hurried up the steps to Dev’s front door.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

What are you doing?

Ewan’s conscience pricked him as Dev fumbled with the keys. He knew this was insanity, but he was past caring.

Dev’s words from earlier echoed in his head: It’s not like that.

Something in Ewan’s chest ached. But when Dev was in his arms, kissing him back, none of that mattered.

Dev wants me.

That much was obvious, and right then, Ewan couldn’t have stopped himself even if he’d wanted to. He wasn’t drunk, but he’d had enough wine to mute his uncertainties and fears. If Dev only wanted him for sex, that was better than nothing, and Ewan would deal with the fallout afterwards.

Ewan followed Dev up the stairs of the silent house, his heart pounding hard. They started kissing as soon as Dev closed the bedroom door behind them, plunging them into darkness.

Ewan gave himself up to the inevitability of it. The kiss contained a sense of urgency he’d never felt in their interactions before, with none of the humour and light-hearted banter Ewan was used to. Their only communication was breathless gasps between kisses and moans of appreciation as they pulled impatiently at each other’s clothes.

Ewan toed out of his shoes and pushed Dev’s hoodie down his arms, and then they both stripped off their own T-shirts before reconnecting in a messy clash of lips. Ewan groaned at the warmth of Dev’s skin against his own, pulling him closer, kissing him harder. He walked back towards the bed, taking Dev with him, and stumbled over something in the darkness. They fell onto the mattress, Dev between Ewan’s thighs. Ewan got his hands on Dev’s arse, rocking his erection against Dev’s hardness.

Ewan gave a grunt of frustration, breaking the kiss to mutter, “Too many fucking clothes.”

Dev chuckled. “That’s easily fixed.”

They rolled to their sides to strip out of their jeans and underwear, and Dev leaned across to turn on the lamp by the bed.

Ewan pulled Dev back on top of him. “That’s better. I can see you now.” He grinned and Dev smiled back. Ewan lifted Dev’s glasses off and set them aside. He slid his fingers into Dev’s hair and reeled him in, parting his lips and tasting him again. Dev shifted, and their cocks slid together, hot, silky skin on skin, and Ewan groaned. He clutched at Dev, slipping his hands down to cup his arse, and Dev moved his hips, thrusting against Ewan as though he was fucking him.

“Yeah,” Ewan gasped between frantic, desperate kisses. “Fuck, Dev.”

Spurred on by Ewan’s words, Dev thrust again. The muscles in Dev’s buttocks flexed under Ewan’s palms. He imagined how Dev must look, on top of him, arse clenching. It must look like Dev was fucking him.

And suddenly Ewan wanted that. He wanted Dev inside him, fucking him, nailing him so hard that he’d feel it tomorrow, as though Dev had left a piece of himself behind.
