She was hesitant to return the kiss properly at first. After all, it had been almost two years since she’d kissed anyone. And Darren had been the only man she’d really kissed before that. So she was rusty and felt awkward—kind of like she was when she kissed her next-door neighbor Tommy on a dare in the fifth grade.

It was strange kissing another man. He didn’t do it the same way. She didn’t want to compare them, but it was hard to avoid. She’d been with Darren for over half her short life. She’d met him when she was fourteen. He’d been gentle with her and taken things slow, but he had certainly kissed her before her fifteenth birthday, and he’d died when she was thirty-two.

She shook thoughts of her husband from her head and concentrated on the amazing man holding her close. CC loved the feel of his warm lips on hers. He moved his mouth differently, luring her to respond eagerly to him. She set her hands on his hips as his tongue slid against hers.

A soft moan escaped her, shocking her. It felt so good to be held. To be kissed. To be cherished. It had been so long.

She needed to be careful though. She couldn’t jump into this thing too fast. She needed to guard her heart and be certain before she let another man in. This was huge. He probably didn’t understand how big a deal this was.

When he finally broke the slow, gentle, invasive kiss, he smiled at her. “Little girl, you’ve stolen my heart.”

She giggled, feeling as Little as he insinuated all of a sudden. That was another thing she hadn’t indulged in two years: her Little side. Not really. Without a Daddy, she hadn’t felt like participating in age play. She’d recently started getting back into the headspace when she went to Blaze, but she hadn’t done so alone at home.

It was just…too lonely. She knew lots of Littles practiced alone when they didn’t have a Daddy, but CC hadn’t needed to until the past two years, and every time she’d considered the idea, it had just made her sad, so she’d stuffed that part of her deep inside and ignored it most of the time.

Until Hunter walked in the door to her room carrying that stuffed kitten. He’d instantly burrowed under her skin even though she hadn’t fully realized what was happening between them.

She licked her kiss-swollen lips. “My heart is racing.”

Hunter slid his hand down from her cheek to her chest. “Do I make you nervous?”

“Everything makes me nervous. It’s not you. It’s me.”

He chuckled. “That’s the kind of line someone uses when they’re breaking up. We haven’t even gotten started yet. Tonight is our first date. You can’t break up with me.”

She giggled nervously. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant I’m rusty about dating and afraid I’m going to do it wrong.”

“Date? Can you date wrong?” he teased, sliding his hand up to her neck. He kissed her lips again.

“Probably. If anyone can, I can.”

“So, let’s skip the dating part and just declare ourselves a couple in a relationship,” he proposed.

Her breath hitched. Was he serious?

He stepped closer even though there wasn’t much space left between them. “I mean it, Little girl. I’m not interested in a casual fling, and it’s obviously not your style. I want you to be mine. We’ll move at whatever pace you need. I’m a very patient man. But I know I’ve found my Little girl, and I’m not going anywhere.”

CC sucked in a breath and held it. Her head was spinning. “I don’t know what to say,” she murmured.

He smiled. “That’s okay. You don’t have to say anything. I wanted you to know where I stand. I want to be your Daddy whenever you’re ready.”

CC searched his gaze. He was serious. Part of her was so excited she wanted to twirl around and squeal. He wanted her. The most handsomest man she’d met in a long time wanted her.

Part of her was freaking out inside. Could he really be her Daddy? It was hard to believe. She’d seen him numerous times in the past few days. He’d been the most attentive doctor, always helping her arrange things on her tray, untangling her, carrying her to the bathroom a few times…

That last part might not have been totally necessary after the first time, but God it felt good to have his arms around her, scooping her up off the bed and depositing her in the bathroom.

She might have possibly perhaps maybe exaggerated the need for help because she enjoyed the attention. The feel of his strong arms. His scent when she leaned her head on his shoulder, so close to his neck.

Yeah, she had a total crush on this man even though she hadn’t really faced it until now.
