Daddy chuckled. “I can practically see your mind hard at work. Just so you know, that spanking is not going to be followed by an orgasm tonight.”

Darn. CC’s excitement deflated.

She was pouting when a female voice broke through her reverie to grate on her nerves. Kristine was back.

“I’ve got a table ready for you by the window if you’d like to move away from the noisy bar.”

CC gritted her teeth as she shot Kristine a glare. The woman had her hand on Hunter’s back. She was even rubbing it.

Hunter glanced at her. “That’s okay. We’re fine here. Give the table to whoever was waiting.”

“Are you sure? It’s no trouble at all.” Kristine stepped closer, rubbing her breasts against Hunter’s arm.

“He said we’re fine,” CC retorted harshly.

Kristine gasped, eyes wide.

Hunter flinched and frowned at CC. “CC?”

That infuriated CC even further. Was he reprimanding her? Why not miss flirty pants with her hands all over him?

Kristine cleared her voice. “It’s okay. Enjoy your meal.” She gave Hunter’s back another rub before turning away.

CC growled at her back, narrowing her gaze as she watched the woman move through the crowded bar.

“Why are you being so snarky?” Hunter asked, his brows drawn together.

CC jerked in her seat and twisted back to look at Hunter. “Are you serious?”

His brows lifted. “Yes. Did I miss something?”

CC blinked at him. “Yes. You certainly did. Please don’t tell me you didn’t know that woman was flirting with you. She all but climbed up into your lap.”

He frowned. “I didn’t notice.”

CC groaned. “That happens a lot,” she grumbled, dipping her face toward her lap before jerking her hand out of her Daddy’s grasp. She gripped the edge of the bar.

Daddy shifted closer and set his hand on her back. “Pumpkin, what’s going on? I’m confused. Why are you angry?”

She took a deep breath and lifted her face. “It’s rude and inconsiderate and it hurts my feelings,” she blurted.

He gaped. “Pumpkin, I’m so sorry. I’m afraid you’re going to have to explain yourself better. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Who’s rude? Me?”

She shook her head. “No. You’re just oblivious. How do you not notice all the women who flirt with you?”

He flinched. “They do?” He glanced toward the hostess stand. “Did you think Kristine was flirting with me?”

CC groaned. “Of course. She couldn’t even leave us in peace. She had to come over yet again so she could talk to you. She didn’t even glance at me as if you were dining alone. She touched you all over, rubbing your back and pressing her tits against your arm. Her voice was dripping with saccharin. How on earth did you not notice?”

Daddy blinked. “I’m so sorry, Pumpkin. Has this happened other times?”

“Yes. It’s happened at the hospital too. It’s like I’m invisible. Women fawn all over you, and I can see why. You’re like a twelve out of ten. I get it, but it’s so rude of them to pretend I don’t exist. It makes my blood boil.”

Hunter slid his hand up her back and cupped her neck. He leaned his face close so they were inches apart. “I’m sorry, Pumpkin,” he repeated. “Really, truly sorry. I guess when I’m with you, all I’m thinking about is you. The rest of the world doesn’t even exist. I never noticed. I can’t even tell you what the hostess looks like. But that’s no excuse. I promise to be more aware in the future and make sure your feelings are not hurt by people around us.”

His explanation made sense, and he was so sincere. She believed he was telling the truth. He really hadn’t paid attention to Kristine or the women at his work.

Still, CC was feeling emotional, and her lip trembled. She didn’t want to cry right here at the bar in this crowded restaurant. Maybe she was overreacting.

Hunter stroked her neck and continued. “You are my Little girl, CC. No one else matters to me. I swear. I’m so glad I met you and so excited to take the next step in our relationship. I can’t wait for you to fully move in with me so I can see you every single morning and every night. I want your face to be the first and last thing I see each day, your lips to be the first and last thing I touch, your scent to be the first and last thing I smell, your sexy moans to be the first and last thing I hear, and your sweet flavor to be the first and last thing I taste.”

A tear leaked out of one eye. “You mean it?” she murmured, her voice creaking.

“Yes, Pumpkin. You’re my world.”

“I guess I’m still having a hard time believing that’s possible.”

“Believe it because it’s true. No one else matters to me.”

CC swiped at the tear. “I’m sorry for overreacting.”
