Her eyes widen in fear when my headlights light her up. She freezes, probably thinking I’m going to run her down. I hate that she’s afraid. It spurs me on even more.

I pull up beside her with the window open. She stares right at me with those beautiful blue eyes shining and those soft lips parted in shock.

“Get in.”

She looks at the cop behind me, then quickly opens the door, and jumps in.

The first thing I do is take a deep inhale of her sexy intoxicating scent. Mmmmmmm. Candy and flowers, just like I thought.

With her tasty scent filling my lungs and a grin on my lips, I throw it into gear and go.

The cop keeps on me, but I don’t really hit the gas until she’s safely buckled in. I have precious cargo now and I’m not about to drive recklessly with her in harm’s way.

“Ready?” I ask with a grin.

She looks at me with wide Bambi eyes and nods.

My heart squeezes, aching as I’m engulfed by her beauty.

It’s time to get this sweet girl out of this place.

It’s time to show her what I have in store for her.

It’s time to make her mine.

CHAPTER FOUR

Lara

I grip the leather seat and hold on tight as Dillon’s car rockets down the road. My insides are vibrating to the rhythm of the engine and to the pulse of my excitement. This is the craziest thing I’ve ever done.

There’s a freaking cop car chasing us and this man doesn’t seem fazed at all. He’s just breathing slowly as his hand moves in a blur, shifting gears before he abruptly turns around a corner. It’s abrupt but smooth. This man is a very talented driver.

I should be freaking out about being in a literal police chase with a stranger I’ve never met before, but I’m not. There could be anything in his trunk—drugs, illegal weapons, stolen money, a dead body—but the only thing I’m focused on is him.

The driving is taking all of his focus, so I can steal all the glances I want without him knowing.

I thought he was sexy from the first moment I saw him, but seeing him like this—in his element, doing what he does best—his sexiness reaches a whole new level.

I swallow hard as I run my eyes along his broad shoulders and down his left arm. It’s stretched out, his hand gripping the steering wheel, and I can see every beautiful tattoo he has etched into his skin. Roses, a car engine, tire tracks, a dagger, and more are all artfully entwined in a stunning tattoo sleeve. His right arm is plain—well, it’s anything but plain with those hard muscles—and his hand is wrapped around the stick shift, moving so fast I can barely keep up with what’s going on.

His green eyes are locked on the road, scanning every inch of it as his brain makes split-second decisions. The police car is still behind us. The siren is blaring and the red and blue flashing lights are reflecting on the ceiling.

My eyes slide down to his lips. His jaw is not tight and stressed like mine would be in this situation. His muscular chest is moving up and down with easy breaths. He’s the epitome of cool, all relaxed and tension free like he’s doing exactly what he was meant to do.

“Hold on,” he says as he looks at me with a playful grin. “This will shake him.”

I clutch onto my purse with one hand and hold my seatbelt with the other as he kicks it up a gear and we fly forward. The back of my head digs into my headrest as we accelerate at a reckless speed.

My heart races and for some reason, I feel a heated flow of wetness between my legs. I squeeze my thighs together as he puts some distance between him and the cop.

It’s a turn-on to be in this car. It’s dangerous and exciting, flying around corners and outmaneuvering police. I’m always the good girl. Always have been. In class, with my parents, where I volunteer at the dog shelter. I’m always the goodie-goodie.

But I’m not in this moment. I’m the bad girl. With the hot dangerous guy. And it’s very thrilling.

I let out an electrifying scream as Dillon speeds over a speed bump and we go airborne for a few seconds. The tires slam back onto the ground, not missing a beat as they continue propelling us forward at a hair-raising pace.

We’re traveling at a blood-tingling velocity, but I’m not even scared. Dillon is in complete control.

The car is like an extension of his body and I feel very safe in his hands.

I don’t know why, but I feel like he would never do a thing to hurt me and would never put me in danger. Maybe it’s the possessive looks he keeps searing me with or the overwhelming feeling of security I have when I’m with him, but I just know we’re going to get out of this just fine.
