“No! You look like an asshole!” Her hands flew to her mouth.

“My, my, my, kitten… That was very unladylike for a Southern belle. What would Daddy say?”

She grimaced. “I can’t believe I just said that.”

“How’s it feel to not have a stick up your ass? You’re welcome.”

“So because I don’t swear, I’m suddenly a prude?”

“You said it, I didn’t.”

“You didn’t have to say it. It was implied.”

“I also implied for you to ride my dick, but I don’t see you calling me out for that.”

She scoffed, shaking her head. “Are you always this vulgar, or do I bring out the worst in you?”

“I’d say you bring out the best in me.”

“I have yet to see anything that great about you.”

“If you sit on my face, I’ll show many great things about me.”

With a baffled expression on her face, she remarked, “I don’t even understand what that means.”

“Trust me, kitten.” I grinned. “I’d love nothing more than to show you what I mean.”

“I don’t want anything from you. I’m supposed to say away from you.”

“Daddy already warned you about me? Should I be offended or flattered, kitten?”

“I’m not a pet, Tristian. Stop me calling me that.”

“By all means.” I lifted my arms in the air. “Try to stop me, kitten.”

“Was this your plan?” she bit out. “Lure me into a classroom to take advantage of me?”

“Those are fighting words. All I did was peck the corner of your lips. I hardly call that taking advantage of you.”

“Let me remind you it was an unwanted and unwarranted peck. I want nothing to do with you.”

“It’s unladylike to lie.”

“I’m not lying.”

“Then why are you still here?”

“Because…” She fervently shook her head, obviously flustered by my question. “I… I…”

“You what?”

“I don’t know, alright? First you trick me into believing you’re someone you’re not, and then you drag me into this classroom alone with you, and now I’m tardy to my first class. I think that justifies my hesitation to answer your question, don’t you think?”

“Yet you’re still here. I hate to break it to you, kitten, but this is just the first encounter of many to come between us. Get used to me in your life.”

I backed away, never once breaking our deep stare as I spoke with conviction…

“Because I’m not going anywhere.”

Chapter 6

—Belle—

Now: One month later

There I stood in front of the mirror, wearing a white lace wedding dress. The six-carat oval-shaped diamond engagement ring on my finger shined bright against the morning sun.

The memory of when Tristian showed up at my house after we signed the contracts flew through my mind.

I opened the door, surprised to see him standing there. “What are you doing here?”

He took one look at me wearing my yellow silk robe and smiled. “I thought we could have a slumber party.”

“Not a chance in hell, Tristian.”

“Careful, kitten. I could always sneak in through your window. You remember how much you used to love that.”

I shook my head, responding in a stern tone, “You have a very warped definition of love. All I remember is how much you enjoyed torturing me with your cold hands in the middle of the night, waking me up from a peaceful sleep.”

“And when my warm tongue woke you up with my face in between your legs? That was torture for you too?”

I cleared my throat, subconsciously closing my robe tighter as I felt the weight of his words.

“Kitten, closing your robe isn’t going to do much for your hard nipples that are pointing right at me.”

I instantly folded my arms over my chest. “I’m cold. It has nothing to do with your effect on me.”

“Whatever you have to tell yourself.”

“Is this why you came here? To torture me some more?”

“Are you going to deny the fact you used to beg me to come tuck you in at night?”

“I did no such thing!”

“Kitten, who do you think you’re talking to? It’s your Tristian.”

“You’re not mine, and you never were.”

“How long do you intend to keep this charade up?”

“For as long as it takes for you to realize it isn’t fake.”

“You’re going to be my wife in less than a month.”

“Which means nothing.”

“By law, it means everything. In twenty-five days, you’re mine, kitten.”

I rolled my eyes, throwing his own words right back at him. “Whatever you have to tell yourself, Tristian.”

He hid back a smile. “If you’d stop acting like a brat for one second, I could give you your gift.”

“It’s not acting. What gift?”

He smiled again. “Invite me in, and I’ll show you.”

“I’m not falling for that.”

“I’m not going to try to fuck you, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“Ugh… Why do you always have to be so vulgar? It’s really unbefitting of a man of your caliber.”

“Would you like me to make love to you, kitten? Is that better for you?”

I could feel my cheeks blushing. “I’d like for you to leave.”
