He smiles knowingly, and I find myself returning the grin simply because he’s so damn handsome standing in the small space not ten feet away. I giggle a bit myself.

“I know Maurice talks about me constantly. It’s a little embarrassing, but it’s also very sweet, and I’m also my parents’ only child, so they have no one else to brag about. But back to basics, Uncle Max. I’m cramping your style here because the cottage is tiny and you’re here to unwind. I can be out of your hair by tonight,” I promise before striding to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. Is it my imagination, or do those blue eyes dilate as my arm reaches up for the water, lifting my full breasts into view?

But Max is completely normal when I turn back around.

“Listen honey, there’s no need to rush,” he says in a smooth tone. “Why don’t you get comfortable and take a shower? Get dressed. Do whatever you need to do as I make dinner, and then we can figure it out.”

I bite my lip and hesitate, but what’s the harm in just one meal? Smiling, I nod and spin on my heel.

“Sure,” I say. “But I didn’t know you knew how to cook, Uncle Max!”

The gorgeous man merely smiles, something unreadable glinting in those blue eyes.

“There’s a lot you don’t know about me, Rachel,” he says. “But you’re about to find out.”

With that promise, I skip up the stairs, my heart racing in my chest. Was there a subtle innuendo in those words? Of course not, the voice in my head chides. This is only your father’s oldest friend! But I can’t help the excitement coursing through my veins, and all of a sudden, my depression about Danny seems far away and definitely very insignificant. Now, Max Wyndham is front and center, and I can’t wait to learn more.

Max

I can’t take my eyes off the gorgeous girl’s rump as she sways up the stairs. My brain realizes that this is so incredibly wrong, but my body – and more specifically my cock — does not give a shit. For fuck’s sake, I just watched my best friend’s daughter bring herself to orgasm and it was delicious. Not only that, but I came hot and heavy in my hand while she did it. That’s pretty much the very definition of forbidden, but just thinking about it again has my cock hardening in my shorts once more. So apparently, taboo doesn’t really matter to me. All that matters is the beautiful Rachel Champion and her sassy ways.

But now, I have dinner to prepare so I turn to the kitchen with a vengeance. Shit. Slaving over the stove has never been my forte, but I need to do something to get myself in hand before Rachel reappears once more.

“Get a grip, Wyndham,” I mutter to myself. “It’s just a woman.”

But the thing is that Rachel’s not just any woman. She’s my best friend’s daughter, and Maurice would kill me if he knew what I’ve done. Even worse, I want to do more, but my hands are tied. Or at least they should be.

A half hour passes as I put together a meal, and suddenly, there’s a shiver of awareness in the room. Sure enough, I look up to see Rachel entering the kitchen, and my mouth goes dry. How old is she now? Twenty-four? Twenty-five? It doesn’t matter because she’s wearing a demure sundress that highlights those generous curves, and her curly hair hangs down her back in a gorgeous wave of chestnut. The woman smiles at me.

“Wow,” she breathes out when she sees what I’ve put together. “This looks delicious. Is that a steak?”

I nod.

“Yep. I brought some groceries when I arrived today, so you’re in luck. Do you like your meat medium rare?”

“Yes, definitely,” she giggles. “Well-done steak is a crime.”

“Good woman,” I nod with approval. “You’re smart, just like your dad.”

Her eyes shutter a bit when I mention Maurice, but then Rachel brightens.

“But Uncle Max, where did you learn to cook? I thought you traveled all the time for work.”

I nod.

“Yeah, I’m on the road a lot. Europe, Asia, Australia? I’ve been everywhere, and I love different cuisines. But eating out every single meal gets old after a while. My grandmother and I cooked together often when she was living, so I picked it up, and I still cook on occasion. It’s something I enjoy, not to mention being healthful and nutritious.”

She nods and pours us each a glass of wine. Then, after I plate the food, we move to the intimate dining nook to eat. It’s very cozy, and I love being seated across from a beautiful woman while enjoying a delicious meal. But Rachel picks at her steak before shooting me a shy glance.
