“I’m sure.” I step back. “I hope it was worth it. Paying two million and in exchange you lost your son.”

His brows hit his forehead. “Braxton... Son, I did this for you. I didn’t know—”

“You didn’t do this for me. You did it for you. Just like you did all those years ago. You’re so determined to prove that all women are deceitful like Denise that you’re willing to fuck over your own son in the process. I loved Kaylee, I still love her, and by trying to break us up to prove your point both times, you not only hurt her, but you also hurt me.”

I slam my fist into my chest. “It sucks you chose Denise over some job, and she let you down. It sucks that you guys had different visions of what life should look like, and in the end, it tore you guys apart. It fucking sucks that you felt betrayed and were hurt by her actions. Although, now, I know you weren’t the completely innocent bystander you led me to believe all these years.”

I shrug, done with this shit, done with him. Just. Fucking. Done. “But you are not me, and not every woman is her. And if you truly loved me, you wouldn’t be trying to manipulate me. You wouldn’t be trying to take the one person who makes me happy away. And you sure as hell wouldn’t be okay with putting her in danger.”

“Braxton, please. I fucked up. You have to understand—”

“I don’t have to understand shit,” I hiss. “You’ve lied to me, manipulated me, and fucked with me for the last time while using the excuse of having my best interests at heart. You and me...” I grab the knob and yank open the door. “We’re done. And if you ever contact Kaylee or me, I’ll run your ass right through the mud. I don’t know the legal terms, but I’d bet paying and soliciting someone to seduce and fuck someone else, then paying them to post the pictures online is illegal. And even if I can’t sue you, I’ll tell everyone what you did until your name is so dirty, nobody will want to touch you or this law firm.”

Without waiting for him to respond, because I don’t give a fuck what he has to say, I walk out the door, slamming it behind me.

When I arrive at Kaylee’s, she’s still where I left her, wrapped in a blanket on the couch. She’s passed out, and not even me opening the door and walking in wakes her. I want to go to her, pull her into my arms and hold her tight. What my dad did is unforgivable. Had Justin decided to take advantage, she could’ve been fucking raped. And my dad didn’t give a shit. All he cared about was proving his point—that women can’t be trusted and you should never put them first.

For years, I felt sorry for him, but now that I know the truth and have witnessed the shit he’s pulled, I don’t have it in me. He made his bed, and now he has to lie in it.

The longer I sit here, thinking about what he’s done, the more worked up I get. I told him I would leave him alone as long as he left us alone, but when I click on Instagram and see all the posts about Kaylee, calling her names and accusing her of cheating, my blood boils, and I know I have to do something. Because if it’s between my dad and Kaylee, I’m going to choose her every damn time.

Not wanting to leave her, I take my phone to the other room so I can make a call without waking her up. “Hey,” Easton says, answering on the first ring. “How’re you doing?”

“Not good, man. I don’t want to leave Kaylee, so I’m going to conference the guys and tell everyone what happened at once.”

I add Gage, Declan, and Bailey to the call—leaving Camden out since he’s at the hospital with Layla—then start talking.

“She didn’t do it, what everyone is saying. She was set up.” I explain everything, from the deal my dad made to Justin drugging her and staging the pictures so he could get his money, and once I’m done, the guys are damn near as pissed as I am.

“Are we taking legal action?” Gage growls.

“I want to, but I don’t think taking this to court, dragging Kaylee through all that, will be worth it. I told my dad if he didn’t leave us alone, I would destroy him, but...”

“But you’re not going to let him get away with this, right?” Declan says. “We’re going to do something. Kaylee could’ve been fucking raped! And what the fuck... Justin? His ass is never working in security again.”

“I agree,” I say. “I thought if he deleted them, it would go away, but it all blew up so fast, and the only way to clear Kaylee of what she’s being accused of is to throw them under the bus.”
