Getting up from the couch, I take the empty pizza boxes into the kitchen before grabbing the second bottle of Moscato and refilling our glasses. “I wouldn’t mind my own tropical island,” I tell her as I flop back onto the couch. “But I think I’m still down with the mansion, the family, and a hot husband who’ll do all kinds of nasty things to me every morning before work.”

“Ugh,” she groans. “You’ll still work? You’ll be filthy rich. You won’t need to work. You could hire people to work for you.”

“And leave my maternity ward to the likes of whores like you? Hell no!”

Mel scoffs. “You can take your maternity ward and shove it up your ass. Pediatrics is where it’s at.”

I roll my eyes as my phone beeps on the coffee table with a new notification. When I reach forward to scoop it up, I find a new match on my Tinder account—something I’m beginning to regret having downloaded in the first place. “Oooooh,” I say, opening the app to ogle tonight’s selections. Turning toward Mel, I show her my screen. “You up for a little hunky piece of man meat?”

Leaning toward me, she peers at my screen, excitement flashing in her eyes. “Ooh, hell yeah,” she grins, finishing off her drink before scooching right over beside me as we swipe through our options.

“Nope. Nope. Nope. Oh, hell no,” she says, taking over the swiping, before getting a little too excited and pulling out her own phone to do the exact same thing. We’re a few minutes into swiping when her whole face scrunches in disgust and she holds back a gag. “Check out the mullet on this one.”

“What’s wrong with it?” I ask, choking back a laugh. “You don’t like a little business in the front and a little party in the back?”

“Oh, you know I love a little party in the back,” she grins.

She gets busy swiping again, and I realize she’s going to end up with a hot stranger in her bed tonight. But I don’t blame her, as long as the guy doesn’t ask for a threesome or steal our shit, then I’m down with it, and honestly, I don’t expect anything different. This is just her and I love her for it. She’s spontaneous, horny, and doesn’t give a fuck what anyone thinks about her.

I wish I was a little more like her. I’d love to have that carefree attitude, to be able to put myself out there the way she does, but I can’t help it. I need control in my life. So until I’m able to find that kind of excitement of my own, I’m happy living vicariously through her.

I get back to business when I stop on what must be the most attractive man I’ve ever seen. “Holy shit,” I mutter, choking on my Moscato as I take him in. He stands by a pool with a beer in hand, wearing nothing but a pair of shorts and showing off his sculpted body—one that was clearly handmade by the angels of heaven. “Why, hello Sean,” I say as I take in the chest, the abs, and the deep V leading down to what must be the sweetest kind of sin.

“Huh?” Mel grunts, tearing her greedy gaze away from her screen and feasting it on mine. “Oh, sweet baby Jesus” she breathes, her eyes widening. “Swipe right, Gi.”

“What? No,” I shriek. She knows perfectly well that I never actually participate in this shit. I just like to look. I mean, who knows what kind of creeps a woman could run into on apps like this.

“Why not?” she demands. “Look at the guy. He’s sexy as hell, he’s wearing a watch that probably costs a bomb, he has a body that you’re already drooling over, and I can tell just by looking at him that he’s killer in bed. He looks like the kind of man to shake hands with your daddy, only to have you calling him daddy between the sheets.”

I shake my head, somehow already blushing at the thought of having this man dominating me in the bedroom. “How could you possibly know that?”

She puts her finger up to her temple. “Trust me,” she grins. “I have a sixth sense for finding the good ones.”

“Really? So, where’s your good guy?”

“Come on, girl. You know me better than that,” she says. “I’m not interested in the good ones. I like the bad boys who will destroy my pussy before destroying my heart.”

I should have known better before asking.

“You’re such a horny skank,” I laugh, rolling my eyes. “But no. This one is all yours. I’m a good girl. There’s nothing I could do or say to that man that he hasn’t heard a million times before from a million girls just like me. But you, you could rock his world.”
