“Yeah,” he confirmed again. “She asked to see her.” He jerked his head at Davis and Brennan, who were still talking to the group. “I said I’d ask.”

I shrugged. “I’ll take her. It’s the least I could do.”

All the videos that Herb had been sharing of me had been taken off the internet. Then, for good measure, since Herb had been making so much money off of me, Folsom had practically stolen all of his money and then put it into an offshore account for Brennan if she ever needed it.

I was okay with it. I mean, ultimately, I was disgusted by how Herb had taken advantage of me. But Folsom had done her work, and nobody was the wiser. It’d been an invasion of my privacy, but ultimately, I would cope.

Would I be careful when I went to places I didn’t know to use the bathroom or change? Hell yeah.

Was it affecting my daily life, having been violated in that way? No. It sucked, but Davis made me feel safe. I could never be unhappy when I was in his arms.

Speaking of being in his arms, one solid one wrapped around my shoulder seconds later.

“See he gave you the news,” Davis rumbled in my ear.

I grumbled. “Yep.”

“You okay?”

I looked up at him, only to have Brennan kick me in the throat.

I moved away and glared. “I swear, she’s doing this on purpose.”

Davis smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corner, and I lost yet another piece of my heart.

“I’m okay,” I told him.

“Good. I would’ve had to give you shit right now for being a little bitch.”

I pinched his nipple, causing him to laugh and jerk away. Which pissed Brennan off.

He realigned her in his arms, then pressed a kiss to her curls.

My heart felt so full it would burst. “Come on. Let’s get some ice cream and join our friends.”

I ordered a mint chocolate chip cone.

They messed it up and gave me banana cream.

But it was okay because I ate Davis’s and he didn’t complain.

Much.

Plus, I had the pleasure of watching him search through his wallet for a twenty-dollar bill. Priceless.
