Zolt could only hope Leo wasn’t hearing all this, but while an overall nice guy, he wasn’t a saint and would surely eavesdrop.

This was so typical. Zolt had already moved on to fry a bigger fish, and the tasty snack he’d thought evaded his grasp came back, begging to be consumed.

He cleared his throat and stepped outside. “I didn’t expect a guest.” He was about to shut the door behind him when Leo emerged from the corridor, still just in his boxer shorts, still smelling of Zolt’s sweat, with lips swollen from kisses.

“Everything okay?” he asked, eying David, who stilled as if he were one of those rocks on the hill and had just happened to roll down.

Great.

Zolt offered Leo the most sincere smile he could muster, which he suspected didn’t look sincere at all. “It’s fine. Could you start the coffee machine? I’m dying for caffeine,” he said in hopes it was a clear enough request for Leo to back off.

Leo did walk away but he first let his gaze linger on David as if he were assessing a diseased rat. Zolt shut the door, painfully aware that all he had on was his sweatpants. The asphalt already burned the soles of his bare feet, but he ignored it and focused on David, eager to get this over with.

David rubbed his forehead. “Is that—?”

“No. He’s a friend crashing at my place until he can get back on his feet.”

“Oh. So I can come over another time?” Relief flashed over David’s face, but Zolt was pretty sure it would be short-lived, because he didn’t have time for flings with a guy like him when he was running the pawn shop, storing drugs for the Smokeys, hiding that very fact from the Jackals, and trying to pin Leo’s ass in the meanwhile.

David was a handsome-enough guy, but he had strings, experienced far too much angst about the whole thing, wasn’t available most of the time, and, well, wasn’t nearly as hot as Leo Heller. “I’m not sure when. I’m going through a very busy period, but I will let you know when I’m back on my feet.”

David deflated and wouldn’t meet Zolt’s eyes. He fished out his phone. “What’s your number? I’ll text you mine.”

It was always good to have more people to choose from for hook-ups, so Zolt had no issue with the exchange and sealed the deal with a squeeze of David’s shoulder. “I’ll call you, all right?”

David nodded, adjusting the collar of his shirt. “Yeah. Sorry for barging in like this. I don’t know what I was thinking.”

Zolt had an idea. David had been thinking with his dick, just like anyone else who couldn’t get their rocks off the way they wanted.

They said their goodbyes, but since he’d felt the heat of David’s gaze on his back all the way to the door, he only relaxed once all the locks were back in place.

He really needed that coffee, but Leo accosted him before he could have looked for a mug.

“Who was that? You didn’t tell him about me, right?” Leo was already wearing jeans, but Zolt still hoped to get him out of them before breakfast.

He frowned, inching toward two steaming cups on the kitchenette counter, only to find Leo blocking his way again with a stern set to his lips. “What is this about? Why would I tell him about you?”

Leo groaned and crossed his arms on his chest, tempting Zolt with the dark nipples. “I just need to know. Was that one of your hook-ups? Is this something you do all the time? I know you said you’ll do whatever in your own home and all that, but since we’re… doing whatever it is that we’re doing, it would only be polite for you to not have other people over, huh?”

A biker. Preaching about the etiquette of hook-ups.

“Is this you telling me you’re already jealous?” Zolt asked, stepping so close they were nose to nose.

Leo swallowed. He didn’t back off, but didn’t seem as confident as seconds ago. “I just— I’m a one-person-at-a-time kind of guy. I hate when shit gets confusing.”

Zolt’s brows rode up as Leo’s words tumbled in his skull. He wasn’t sure what that meant, but if this arrangement showed promise to eventually get him between Leo’s legs, then he wasn’t opposed to this weird—temporary—kind of exclusivity. “So you’d rather I have no other fuckbuddies while you’re staying here. Is that what this is about?”

Leo took his time, but he sounded certain of his answer once he spoke. “Yes. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. Especially since we’re not using rubbers.”

Zolt’s mind did a backflip. “Hang on. Are you saying anal’s back on the table?”

Leo flinched and took a step back, frowning. “No! You can get STDs from blowjobs too. And I… rather liked sucking you off,” he finished in a much softer tone.
