She broke, coming hard, crying out my name, moving faster, clutching my cock as her muscles locked down, triggering my own release. With a roar, I sat up, wrapping her in my arms, holding her tight and riding out my orgasm as I came with an intensity I thought would kill me.

Until we were sated, our bodies slowing down, the passion lessening, and the intimacy of the moment taking hold. I caught her face between my hands and kissed her. Her sweet, full mouth. Her cheeks and button nose. I ghosted my lips over her closed eyes, feeling the flutter of her lashes on my lips. I kissed her mouth again, then lay back, letting her rest on top of me.

We had a shower and slid back into bed, Katy lying beside me. I waited until she settled, then moved nearer, wrapping my arm around her. The room was quiet for a while as we enjoyed the moment and simply being together.

“Are you hungry?” I asked Katy, nuzzling at her neck.

“Hmm.”

“Thirsty?” I nibbled at her earlobe.

“Hmm.”

“Have I worn you out, sweetheart?”

She snuggled closer. “You still have it, Mr. VanRyan.”

I scoffed. “As if there was any doubt.”

“Well, you are an old, retired man now. Past your prime, with a bunch of married kids, grandkids and all.”

“Is that a fact?”

“Soon, you’ll pull into the driveway with your new minivan. You’ll start wearing polo shirts and shorts with sandals and socks.”

I rolled her over, nipping at her neck and kissing her hard. “First off, the socks and sandals will never happen. Maddox would have a coronary. I rock a polo shirt, though.”

She ran her hands over my arms, which, thanks to working out daily, were still muscular and strong. “You do,” she admitted, leaning up and kissing my chest. “You are pretty damned sexy for an old man.”

“The minivan is never happening, and as for being past my prime, I think I just rocked your world, Mrs. VanRyan. Give me a little recovery time, and I’ll do it again.”

She giggled, the sound light and happy in the room. “Those are words I never thought I would hear you say.”

I laughed with her. “Those words are reality, but I promise you round two will be just as enjoyable as round one.”

“Oh, I’ll hold you to that.”

“You do that.”

She reached up and cupped my face, and I was surprised to see the glimmer of tears in her eyes.

“Hey,” I said, wiping at the corner of her eye. “What’s this, sweetheart?”

She shook her head.

“Tell me,” I demanded, keeping my voice calm. I hated to see Katy cry. I really hated it if I was the one to make her do so.

“Sometimes, Richard, I have to pinch myself. Even after all these years. We’ve had so much happiness together. I wonder if something will go wrong. If something will happen and take away that happiness.”

I lowered my mouth to hers and kissed her lips. “Nope. Nothing is going to happen. We’re healthy. Our kids are good. I’m retiring, and I plan on being around a long time.”

“I don’t just mean death.” She shook her head. “I think the devil himself will make sure you stay up here a good many more years. He’s afraid you’ll take over once you get there,” she teased, trying to recover the lightness of a few moments ago. I chuckled at her words then stroked her cheek, wanting to understand.

“Tell me what you mean, then.”

“It’s just we’ve been level for so long. Nothing major, nothing rocking us.”

I smirked. “Are you forgetting how we started? That was pretty rocky. Or when I was in the accident? That time we thought we lost Gracie? When Graham had his stroke? You want me to go on? We’ve had plenty of trouble to deal with, Katy. We just deal with it together, and we move on. That’s all we need. Each other. We can handle anything as long as we’re together. And nothing is going to happen. The next while is smooth sailing for us.”

She smiled. “You’re right.”

“Of course I am.”

“Oh, go fuck yourself, VanRyan.”

I laughed. “Nope. I plan on fucking you again. Thoroughly.”

I captured her mouth, kissing her. Our tongues slid together, our bodies pressed intimately, touching chest to chest, hip to hip, our legs entwined. I ran my hands down her arms, lifting them over her head as I kissed her, stroking her skin.

“So soft,” I marveled. “Your skin is always so soft, Katy.” I sucked a hard nipple into my mouth, teasing it as she groaned. “You taste so good. So sweet here,” I praised as I kissed my way across her breasts. “So warm and good here,” I murmured, teasing the juncture of her neck. I slid down her body, tasting her as I went. I settled between her legs, meeting her eyes, hooded and dark with desire. I nipped her inner thigh. “And here—” I pressed a kiss to her warm, wet center “—here is where you taste the sweetest. The richest honey in the world. And it’s mine. All mine.”
