Where was that winged king?

He’d be back, she guessed, when he was done with king things. Or maybe he was done with her. Maybe she’d pissed him off, and he’d just abandoned her in the bedroom. Though there wasn’t any need for that. If she annoyed him enough it wouldn’t be hard to get rid of her. He could just fly her out into the lava and drop her.

That was a dark thought. So why was she smiling?

Because she was fucked up, that’s why. Same reason she couldn’t just do what he wanted and give way to the will of this alien king who was actually trying to spoil her in his own weird way. He’d gotten her fries because he thought she liked them, and he was right.

But he wasn’t right in any other respect. He was absolutely wrong for having taken her, that was for sure. Dominax didn’t know who he’d taken. Didn’t know who she was. He’d picked her because she was a pretty face, the same way drunk dudes who hit on her during her shift did. Sometimes they’d hit on her and ask her out on dates. And once or twice, she’d agreed. It had never gone well.

She looked out over the lava sea and wondered what she had done to deserve this fate. Katie knew it was a stupid thing to even bother thinking. Life had taught her that nobody deserved anything. Things just happened to them. This was happening to her now.

“Beautiful, isn’t it.”

Dominax appeared behind her, his hand on the back of her neck, underneath her collar. His touch was comforting, and almost sweet. But it was also commanding and controlling.

It wasn’t beautiful. It was a literal hellscape. But it would have been rude to say that, so she didn’t.

She turned and looked up at him. “What is there to do here? Do you have television?”

“No. Our species does not have a constant need to be entertained. We are content with the relentless pursuit of conquest.”

“Conquest of what? The fucking dirt? There’s nothing here but a big palace…”

Dominax lifted a thick royal brow at her. “Is this your way of asking me to show you around?”

“I guess?”

“You’re rude.”

“I’m from New York. It’s kind of our thing.”

“Being thrashed will soon be your thing, human.”

“Jesus, chill. It’s not that big of a deal. I’m just saying, the only thing you got here is this massive palace, and then all that lava out there. Where are all the others?”

“Some might call this sufficient, especially for a pet who came from a place where humans live their entire lives inside six by twelve boxes.”

“Some might,” she shrugged. “Mine was ten by four feet, but I could leave it and go anywhere in the city I wanted. This place is dead. I haven’t even seen anyone in the palace besides a couple of servants. In New York, there would be like, a million people here.”

Dominax gave her one of those serious looks. “You have seen almost nothing of this place, and judged it lacking. You are human through and through.”

“You don't know humans.”

“You don’t know me, pet.”

“And you don’t know me,” she threw back.

“I will get to know you in the course of your captivity, and you will get to know me. You may even come to love me, as I already love you.”

“Oh fuck off, you do not love me!” Her exclamation was almost offended. Did he really think she was so stupid that she’d believe a king like him loved her?

“Love is an act. It is caring for someone. It is looking after them and their best interests. It is also making a commitment to them. I will look after you. I will commit to you. You will find your place here. And if you behave yourself, it will be a pleasurable experience.”

She laughed.

It was becoming very apparent to Dominax that his new pet suffered from an extreme lack of anything approximating a sense of discipline. She was willing and exciting in bed, but outside of it she was what he had heard some people during his brief stay on Earth call a “dumpster fire.”

“There is much to this world beyond the palace, but I have no intention of letting you out among the populace until you are well trained. That means being obedient in action and speech.”

“That means suck my balls and take me back to Earth if you don’t like it.”

The sudden outburst of rudeness took him aback. There it was again, that flash of temper which made no sense to him. One moment they were talking, and the next she was basically begging to be beaten.

“I have caged you. Spanked you. Fucked you, and still you give me this attitude. I think you like pain, human. I think you crave punishment.”

“That’s obviously bullshit. I don’t like being punished.”
