"I'm serious, Cormac!"

"So am I. Two." He paces toward me.

I back up again, casting a glance to the side to check for an escape route.

"Three."

There's no way I can outrun him, but I'm going to try anyway.

"Four," he growls.

I feint to the left. As soon as he moves that way, I shout, "Five!" and then dodge right, racing toward the stairs.

He curses, and then I hear him chasing behind me. My heart races, adrenaline pumping through my system as I run as hard as I can. Somehow, I make it to the stairs. My feet fly up the steps. His heavier steps sound behind me, so close I know he's gaining ground. Jeez, he's fast for a freaking giant. Probably because he can skip entire freaking steps while I have to take each one. It's cheating, really.

I hit the landing at a dead sprint, racing toward the bedroom.

I'm not even a foot from the door when he catches me.

"No!" I shout as he hauls me up into his arms, pinning my arms to keep me still.

"Caught you," he growls in my ear before delivering a stinging bite.

My stomach bottoms out, heat surging through me in a pyroclastic blast. I think we both know I wanted him to catch me. We also know I'll never admit it. I struggle in his arms, trying to get free even though we both also know that isn't going to happen.

He stomps toward the bedroom, kicking the door closed to keep Crash from interrupting what he's about to do to me. I bounce when I land on the bed, my hair tangled around my face, momentarily blinding me.

I don't even have time to battle it out of the way before he's on me.

My shirt goes first, ripped from my body like paper.

"Don't you dare rip this bra, Cormac Carmichael," I hiss. "They're expensive."

The jerk holds my gaze while he rips it right down the middle.

"You did not," I growl, not entirely surprised. No one tells Cormac what to do.

"Did it. Enjoyed it. Would do it again." The jerk has the audacity to smirk at me before he leans down and wraps that wicked tongue around my nipple.

I shout his name, my back bowing off the bed.

"That's more like it, Mischief. Those are the sounds I want to hear in this bed," he growls, blowing on my nipple. And then he bites it.

"Cormac!" I sob, clawing at his shoulders as a blast of pleasure rips through me.

He does the same thing to the other nipple before leaving a red mark beside it.

"Damn," he breathes, leaning back to look at his handiwork. "You look good wearing my mark, Bella. Might just have to leave them all over this perfect body so everyone knows you belong to me."

"Do I get to mark you too, then?" I demand, staring up at him through a fog of lust.

"Fuck yeah." His eyes light up at the thought. "Mark me, Mischief. Brand me with your name so everyone knows I'm yours. You think I won't wear that shit with pride?" He runs his lips down my stomach, his eyes locked on mine. "Think again, little girl."

He pries my legs apart, fitting his big body between them.

Color blooms in my cheeks, my insides liquefying when he shoves his nose against my mound, inhaling deeply.

"Fuck, I can smell how wet you are, Bella."

"It's your fault," I mutter.

"Then I guess it's a good thing I'm going to fix it, huh?"

I watch with a slack jaw as he rips the crotch out of my pants. He doesn't even try to remove them like a normal person! He just Hulks his way through them like a crazy man.

"I'm so mad at you right now."

"Yeah? Is that why your panties are soaked through? Because you're so mad?" He turns that pirate smile on me, touching his finger to the seam of my panties. "They're drenched, baby."

"Still mad," I say, even though I'm pretty sure I'm lying. It's impossible to be mad at someone who looks at you like he'd crawl through hell for a single taste of you. And that's precisely how Cormac is looking at me right now. I think…Lord, I think this man is in love with me.

And I don't think it's the kind that dies or diminishes or fades, either. It's the kind my dad has with Jenna. The wild, deep kind that endures and grows stronger. The kind Marion was never capable of feeling.

Is that what's beating in my chest right now, threatening to burst out of it? Wild, crazy love for this man? Is that why the thought of leaving him hurts? Is that why he feels like home? Because I'm in love with him? I think…Oh my gosh. I think it is.

I'm in love with Cormac Carmichael. Madly, desperately, wildly in love.

"Cormac, I…."
