I glare at my brother and ignore his teasing. Yes, the girls might have gone a little overboard with the pink flowers and ribbon and fabric. Okay, he’s right. It does look like a bottle of Pepto exploded in here. And I couldn’t be happier. I’m about to make the love of my life mine forever, and I don’t care if it’s in a pink tent or on a dirty street corner. All that matters is having her for the rest of my life.

I glance up and see the most stunning vision walking toward me. Her white dress hugs her curves, and I groan as my cock grows hard behind my zipper. Hadley’s long blonde hair is pulled back in a fancy twist with a few strands hanging down around her graceful throat. When she steps next to me, I lean over and place a kiss on her collarbone.

“There will be time for that later.” The judge clears his throat.

I take her soft hand in mine and turn to him.

“Hurry up. I’m ready to get to it.” My brothers snicker behind me, but I ignore them while Judge Harrison says the words that will make Hadley mine forever.

After kissing my wife within an inch of her life, I lead her through the pink-filled tent. The reception is torture. I’m forced to allow all my brothers to take turns dancing with her, which raises my hackles. “You’re one pussy-whipped sucker.” Hands laughs as he presses a glass of bourbon into my clenched fist.

“That’s the rumor.” I take a drink, hoping the expensive liquor will cool me off a little.

“I hope someone has mercy on me and shoots me if I ever start acting like you,” he groans.

“Just wait,” I warn him. “Your time is coming.”

“Hell fucking no, it isn’t.” He stomps away as Rulie walks up to stand next to me.

“That dumbass is daring Karma to step in.”

“Let the bitch have at him.” I hand my glass to my friend. “I’m going steal my girl before I have to break some asshole’s arm.”

“That’s my boy,” he calls behind me.

An hour later, I lean over and whisper against my wife’s ear, “I’m ready to have you to myself.”

“Thank God.” She kisses my chin. “I’m ready to get out of this dress.”

“Your wish is my command.” I lift her against my chest and race out. Screw it, our guests can entertain themselves.

Rulie rushes into my office, and I can tell from his pale, drawn look that something bad has happened. “There’s been an accident.” My heart drops in my chest as the world stops. Not my girl. She can’t be hurt because I know I would never survive losing her.

“Is she okay?” My second thought is the baby. I can’t lose my child before I even meet him.

“Come on.” Rulie rushes behind my desk and places his hand on my shoulder. “I’ll take you to the hospital.”

“Is Hadley okay?” I let him lead me around as numbness flows through my body. All my work stress instantly disappears as worry for my wife overwhelms me.

“I don’t know,” he tells me as we rush to my SUV. “Gloria called and said Hadley has been in an accident and to get you to the hospital fast.”

Hearing him confirm that she’s hurt sends pain shooting through every molecule in my body. The drive seems to take forever. “I’ll park the car and come look for you,” he tells me as we turn into the hospital parking lot.

When Rulie pulls up to the Emergency Room door, I bolt from the vehicle and race into the hospital. The smell of disinfectant hits me in the face as I look around for someone to give me information.

A middle-aged nurse stops and asks if she can help me and I blurt out, “My wife was in an accident.” The nurse leads me to a counter on the back wall and starts asking me questions. On autopilot, I answer her.

“Hold on one second, and I’ll get a doctor to come talk to you.” I want to beg her to tell me Hadley is okay, but my mind shuts down. I shake my head and watch her walk away.

“Mr. Montoya?” A gray-haired doctor calls my name, and I race over to him. I let him lead me to a small room down the hall and sit in the tan chair when he points at it. It seems like an eternity before he finally speaks. “Your wife was in a car accident today.”

He starts to explain the accident, but I don’t care about that. I only want to know one thing. “Is my wife, okay?”

The doctor nods his head, and the pain in my heart eases a little. “She’s going to be okay.” He pats my arm. “She has a bump on the head and will probably be sore for a few days, but she doesn’t have any serious injuries.”
