Realizing I’ve let my mind wander again, I mutter, “I’ll be at Petal Pushers at five-thirty.” I hang up before making more of an ass of myself. I glance over at the clock and groan. Another three damn hours until quitting time.

At four-fifteen, I rush over to the main house to grab a quick shower before heading to town. “Yuck.” Gloria makes gagging noises as I storm in the back door. “You smell like the barn.”

“I’ve been working in the barn all day long.” I glance over at her and smirk. “You should be used to stinky men,” I joke. Gloria’s husband, Rulie, is a neat freak fucker. Our graybeard works as Cash’s PA while Gloria is the mother hen-housekeeper at the clubhouse. She also stops by the main ranch house several times a week to check in on me.

“I’ll tell Rulie you think he stinks.” She rolls her eyes.

“Fuck, no.” Changing my tune, I grab a banana from the fruit bowl and peel it. “My eyes already water from all the frou-frou shit he wears.” Rulie smothers himself in fucking cologne. Much more, and they’ll smell him on the space station. I glance at my watch and groan. “I have to rush through a shower,” I tell Gloria. “I have to help Hadley’s sister with the flowers.”

“That’s why I’m here.” She points at the stairs. “I picked your suit up at the cleaners and put it in your closet.” I wouldn’t survive without her. After my housekeeper quit, I decided to try things on my own. I lasted all of two weeks before admitting to myself that I can’t do it all. I need to hire someone else, but I just don’t have the time. I guess I’ll add it to my ever-growing list of shit to get done.

“Thank you.” I throw the peel away and head for the stairs. “I’d kiss you, but I like my head attached to my shoulders.” Rulie might be middle-aged, but he still packs a punch. He loves us like sons but won’t tolerate anyone touching his old lady.

“Don’t be late tomorrow or Cash will have your ass,” Gloria calls after me, and I give her a thumbs up.

I’m headed to town a while later when my phone rings. I hit the Bluetooth button and roll my eyes when Cash growls, “Are you helping Kyra with the flowers?”

“God, you sound like a pussy-whipped fucker.” I can’t resist needling him. When I talked to Hands yesterday, he complained about Cash driving everyone nuts over the wedding. I’ve been in Houston most of the week and avoided the shit show.

“Fuck off,” he grumbles. “I can’t wait to see you go through this.”

“Oh no.” Slamming my hand on the steering wheel, I blast the asshole, “You aren’t jinxing me with the whole finding a soulmate and acting like a moron thing you have happening right now.”

“We’ll see. Back to my original question. Are you planning to help Kyra with the arrangements?” My friend sounds so frazzled that I don’t have the heart to screw with him.

“I’m on my way there now.” I see the Silver Spoon Falls Pop. 10,354 up ahead and turn right onto Main Street.

“Can you make sure the set-up is running smoothly tonight?” The exhaustion is evident in his voice.

“Is everything okay?” I might make fun of the pussy-whipped fucker, but I’m also envious of how happy he’s been and I don’t want to see his sweet lady suffer, either.

“Hadley is having a bad night.” He sighs. “She’s dealing with morning, noon, and night sickness right now.” That sounds horrible to me. Seeing the woman you love in that agony must be awful. “Zane and London will meet you at the clubhouse to set everything up.” Rulie picked his two siblings up at the airport today. “Call me if you have any questions.”

“Don’t worry, mother hen,” I tease. “We have everything under control,” I assure him then hang up before he has time to ask any more questions.

Last weekend, we had a meeting at the clubhouse to decide who would be available to help, and everyone volunteered to do something. Our MC consists of a hodgepodge of wealthy men who share a love of the road and have forged a brotherhood. Most of us know what it’s like to be in the public eye and have a hard time trusting outsiders since our wealth makes us targets. Damien “Angel” De Angelis, a real prince, has been in his home country of Belldonia for the elections. He plans to fly in tomorrow morning. Cormac “Giant” Carmichael owns a security firm that contracts for big-time celebrities. He’s stuck in Europe on a job, but he’s supplying all the security personnel for the event. Rafe “Lynch” Soracco, our architect MC brother, helped design the wedding set-up. Andreas “Playboy” Romano, the CEO of Romano Shipping, rushed the shipment of special flowers Hadley wanted. Jude “Fifth” Despora, the club’s attorney, tried his usual “I plead the fifth,” but we ignored the fucker and assigned him to catering duty. Actually, the fucker found an available caterer and arranged everything. Since Cash’s parents are big-time celebrity movie stars, they decided to attend the ceremony via video to keep the reporters from circling like vultures. Our genius computer hacker, Finn “Hacker” Taylor, is in charge of ensuring all the video equipment is “hacker” proof. My mind is blown. Our brother Declan “Bender” Valentine, a popular rockstar, snuck into town two days ago.
