It might have been the sexiest thing I’d ever seen.

No, scratch that.

When she let out a deep groan and abruptly began to shudder uncontrollably—that was the sexiest thing ever. The back-and-forth jerk of her hips slowed to a stop, and her head lolled forward so she could drop her forehead down onto my shoulder.

Everything went quiet except for her as she struggled to find air, and the patter of rain falling against the windows.

“Did you just come?” I whispered.

I released her wrist and she melted into me, her warm breasts flattening to my bare chest. I could feel how fast her heart was beating and the quiver that shook her legs. It made me pulse, intensifying the ache in my pants.

Her head didn’t move. She continued to rest it on my shoulder, but I got the sense it wasn’t fatigue holding her there. Was she . . . embarrassed?

Sydney’s voice was so quiet and rushed, it was hard to understand. “That’s a first.”

I went still and my chest tightened. “Your first orgasm?”

Shit, it was wrong how much I wanted that to be true. I was greedy and selfish, wanting all her firsts.

She pulled back and straightened, but her eyes wouldn’t meet mine. Her gaze latched on to my chest, focusing there like she was too shy to look anywhere else. “No,” she said. “Just my first time,” she hesitated, “in front of someone else.”

Well, fuck me.

This answer was even better than the one I’d hoped for.

SEVEN

Sydney

Sparks continued to ricochet through my body even as my orgasm faded, and I stared at Preston’s chest, unable to look him in the eye. I’d never lost control like that in front of someone else. The sounds I’d made, the way I’d acted . . . It was impossible not to be embarrassed.

“Okay,” he said, “that’s seriously hot.”

I couldn’t interpret his tone. Was he making fun of me? I crossed my arms over my chest to cover my nakedness, and my gaze flew to his face. But it seemed he’d meant it genuinely, judging by his thrilled smile.

I had no idea what I looked like to him. My face had to be flushed because it was a million degrees inside his car, and I couldn’t catch my breath. I’d had plenty of orgasms before, but they’d been late at night and in the safety of my own bed.

Where I didn’t care how I sounded or what I looked like.

I didn’t know how to feel about having an audience, especially one who’d undoubtedly seen this before with plenty of other partners. What if he compared me to them? What if I’d done it wrong, or I’d made a weird face, or—

Preston’s hands closed around the arms I’d banded tightly across my chest, and he gently eased them apart, not stopping until he had our fingers laced together in each hand. It was so comfortable, so intimate.

His warm, evaluating gaze slid across my body. “You okay? You look nervous.”

I swallowed thickly. “Nope, I’m fine.”

Except my voice was tight and my shoulders were tense, signaling I was lying, and he didn’t like that. He used his hold on me to pull me close. I’d expected him to kiss me, but instead he tilted his head and fitted his face into the crook of my neck.

“What’s going on?”

His gentle, hushed question was so unexpected, it nearly broke me. He wasn’t exactly known for being thoughtful or considerate, so to see this side of him was stunning.

“I don’t know,” I whispered. But I did know. “I’m embarrassed,” I admitted.

“Why?” His lips were just below my ear, and his hot breath tickled the loose hairs there. It made me shiver, but in a good way, and I was sure he knew he was the cause. “You’re so fucking sexy.”

I closed my eyes, enjoying what he’d said. Maybe he fed this line to all the girls he’d been with, but—shit—I wanted to believe it.

He unlaced our fingers, freeing his hands up so they could glide over my bare back. “I’ll have to get you to do that again.”

“What?”

“Make you come. I don’t mind doing it over and over again until you’re comfortable.”

He sounded so matter of fact about it.

I let out a short laugh that was mixed with disbelief. “It’s just that easy for you, huh?”

Because it hadn’t been for anyone else.

Only him.

“Apparently, it is.” His tone turned seductive. “And we’ve barely gotten started, Sydney.”

He had a point. Things had gotten hot and heavy between us, but weirdly we also hadn’t done much. Sure, I was topless, and he was hard between my legs, but most of our clothes were on and neither of our hands had strayed below the belt.

Plus, he’d said we weren’t having sex today.

His lips glanced across my skin, planting a series of kisses that threatened to make me weaker than I was already. My unfocused gaze turned to stare out the back windshield and I watched the rain as it fell, enjoying the sensation of his mouth while pleasure continued to buzz through my system.
