It had angered him and when his wife had taken her leave, he issued a warning. “Lay more than curious eyes on my wife and you will not like the consequences.”

Argus had leaned close to whisper, “You do not have feelings for the witch, do you?”

Lloyd had heard and spoken up. “Lord Varrick is an honorable man, or do you forget that, Argus? He cannot let his men disrespect his wife even if she is a witch.”

And that had settled that… or had it?

Varrick was glad when he reached his bedchamber. The fire in the hearth had trickled down, the room darker than usual but he was too tired to add more logs. A warm bed waited for him; a heated stone having made it so. He crawled beneath the warm wool blankets surrendering to the sleep that instantly claimed him.

Fia felt the stroke of a hand across her bare stomach, it was warm and gentle and sent a pleasant sensation trickling through her. A soft moan whispered from her lips when the hand closed around her breast, cupping it firmly before fingers began to brush across her nipples turning her already hard nipples harder. The touch was like nothing she had ever experienced, foreign and yet familiar, intimate and pleasurable, gentle and loving.

Another barely heard moan fell from her lips when a whispered breath tickled at her neck before lips touched her sensitive skin and nipped along it. A familiar scent drifted over her.

Varrick.

A mixture of freshly fallen snow, winter pine, and pungent male stung her nostrils and stirred something deep inside her that left her aching.

She never had a dream like this before and she kept her eyes closed fearing if she opened them, she would wake, the dream gone along with the pleasure. She almost gasped in disappointment when his hand left her breast, but she caught it before it could surface, and she was glad she did since his hand roamed down along her body gently, giving a tender squeeze here and there, to settle between her legs.

Her mum and grandmother had warned her about the touch of a man and what it could do to a woman.

Love. That was what made the difference they had said. True love could survive anything. Anything less would bring nothing but trouble. But how did she know if it was love? How did she make the right choice?

His finger slipped inside her and her body arched of its own accord. Good Lord, but it felt amazing. Perfect in every way, but it was a dream, nothing more than a dream.

His hand slipped away from her as his body slipped over her. She felt his manhood hard between her legs as his mouth suddenly descended on hers in a kiss.

Potent, demanding, eager. He wanted her with a hunger that she feared she would never quench and did not know if she even wanted to since she felt an unquenchable hunger of her own.

She felt the wet tip of his shift probe between her legs as his lips grew ever more demanding on hers and she found herself eagerly returning their demand.

Now, do it now!

The voice boomed in her head and her eyes shot open just as the door to the bedchamber flew open and Argus rushed in.

“My lo—” Argus froze silent, his eyes appearing ready to pop from his head.

Varrick’s blue eyes flared wide as he looked upon his wife’s startled face. His manhood throbbed relentlessly between her legs, the tip of it kissing her wetness and his ache to plunge deep inside her grew along with his anger.

“GET OUT!” Varrick yelled so viciously that Argus turned to rush from the room and bumped into Merry.

Argus grabbed her by the shoulders so as not to knock her down and she stared, her mouth agape at Lord Varrick hovered over Fia. Argus rushed her from the room, slamming the door behind them.

Varrick was off Fia in a flash to stand naked beside the bed. “What magic do you work on me?”

Fia hastily pulled the blanket over herself. “I woke as shocked as you.”

He jabbed a finger her way and accused, “You were in my bed!”

Fia tried to keep her eyes off his shaft, but it jutted so thick and large from his body that it drew the eye, but she was quick to turn her glance away. “I did not know this was your bedchamber. I was tired and must have entered the wrong one.”

How had the voice in her head been wrong telling her one more floor and now, do it now? It had always guided her wisely.

“You expect me to believe that?” he accused.

“I cannot make you believe anything. I only know I speak the truth. And how did you not see me in your bed when you entered here?” she asked, curious as to how such an accident could have occurred.
