“Let’s go inside, baby. My balls are starting to shrink.”

“This is the last time we’re having sex in public,” Max says, trying to catch her breath.

“But it’s exciting.”

“It is, but I don’t want to wake up and see my ass plastered on the internet.”

“For the record, if they see any ass right now, it’s mine.”

Max laughs softly, a sound that sparks a strange flicker in my chest. I ignore it for now, but I’m gonna revisit that unfamiliar emotion later.

“The Doors of Durin — Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter.”

Max drops the piece of biscuit she’s holding and goes completely still. “What’s that?”

I get up from the couch and kiss the tip of her nose. “Just the doorbell. Delivery’s here.”

After taking a shower together, we found ourselves hungry. We didn’t have anything to cook, so we decided to order Thai food and watch a crappy reality show while we waited.

Max waits behind me while I pay the delivery guy.

“Who’s that speaking in your doorbell?”

“Gandalf.”

“Why?”

“It was that or Chewbacca.”

“Oh my God.”

“Come on. He’s the greatest wizard of all time. Of course—”

“No, he’s not. Dumbledore is.”

I rear back as if she just hit me. “You did not just say that.”

“He is.”

I pull out the boxes and point the disposable fork at her. “You mean to tell me, the old guy who basically left a teenage kid to fight against the great evil?”

“Harry Potter was anything but an ordinary teenage kid.”

“My point remains. No one disrespects Gandalf in this household.”

Peering at her from under my lashes, I mumble, “And here I thought you were perfect.”

Max laughs and smacks my arm before sitting down and shoving a forkful of Pad Thai into her mouth. She closes her eyes and moans.

Just like that, my body comes alive.

“Please stop doing that. I’m actually hungry. If you make any more of those sounds, I’m gonna end up with an empty stomach and emptier balls.”

“Mika!” She widens her eyes at me in mock outrage.

I raise my hands in surrender. “Just being honest!”

We stay quiet for a few minutes, just busy eating and sharing meals good enough for four people. After inhaling all the food, we set aside the mostly empty boxes and start with dessert—mango sticky rice.

“That your favorite band?” I point to her oversized, well-worn t-shirt—the only thing she’s wearing aside from a pair of panties. It’s similar to the one she wore the night she knocked on my door.

“Yup.” She smiles at me, and a different kind of hunger roars through my chest, fogging my brain.

Her eyes crinkle at the corners, her excitement at talking about something she loves palpable. She’s glowing.

Breath lodges in my throat. I have no idea where it comes from, but I want to make her this happy every single day. I want to see her beam at me like the sun shines out of my ass.

“I loved them since I was in college. I used to listen to their songs while I sketched or painted through the night.”

“Have you ever seen them live?”

She sighs and chews the sticky rice slowly before answering, “No. I’ve always wanted to, but somehow, I was always busy when they had shows anywhere near me.”

Max sets the fork down and tilts her head to the side, a soft smile on her lips. “Can I tell you something?”

“Sure.”

“I’m scared to go to concerts. Scared of the crowd. Scared of being trapped. Scared of stampedes. Just like those horrible stories you see on the news.”

“I’ll come with you, make sure you’re safe.”

She eyes me up and down and smiles again. “Okay.”

I stand and stalk to her. “You think I can’t do that?”

“N-no. Of course not. I think you can.”

“You don’t believe me.”

She scoffs. “Mika, I—”

I don’t let her finish her sentence because I sweep her into my arms and bruise her lips with the force of my kiss. Jesus, I can’t get enough of her. I’m like an addict always looking for the next high.

Max giggles in between kisses as I back us from the table.

When the backs of my knees hit the edge of the sofa, I slump down, bringing her with me.

Max straddles my lap and nibbles on my bottom lip. “We shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Why?”

“You’re my friend’s nephew?”

“So?”

“You’re also way younger than me.”

“So?”

“We need to stop.”

“Okay.”

Max lifts her shirt, tosses it behind her, and repositions herself so she’s right on top of my cock. “Like, seriously. We should just go to our bedrooms and sleep.”

I smirk and let my hands fall to my sides. “Okay.”

My brain stops working when she reaches into my pajamas and pulls out my stiff member. I throw my head back and swallow hard, painfully aware that I’m burning through my last shreds of self-control and I’m close to pouncing on her like an animal.

“We only just met,” the maddening woman continues. “We need to be just roommates for a few days. You know, get to know each other first.”
