He side-stepped her and moved over to me, pulling me in front of him as a shield. Vincent snickered. I was so confused. Connie was always so nice whenever I happened to be around her. Why was Julian acting as if she were the plague?

“Hey, Connie,” I greeted as I waved at her.

“What is this?” she asked, disgust twisting her features as she looked at Julian’s arms that were wrapped around my waist.

“Oh,” I said with a smile as I glanced up at Julian for a moment. He pressed his lips to my temple, tugging me up harder against him. “Julian and I are . . . together?” I said, but it came out more as a question.

A low growl rumbled from Julian’s chest, vibrating my back. “We are together,” he rumbled. “You’re mine, baby girl.”

My heart swelled in my chest. Connie sneered at me, shocking me. Her hand reached out to slap me, but Julian quickly moved me, and instead, her hand slapped him. I gasped in shock as Julian’s face whipped to the side. “Connie!” Desiree shrieked. “What in the hell is wrong with you?!”

“Julian, I – I’m so sorry!” Connie shrieked.

He turned his head to face her, his cheek red and swollen, but the glare he aimed at her had even me backing away from him nervously. Catching the movement, he reached back and snagged my wrist, anchoring me with him. “Get. Out,” he snarled at her.

She flinched back from him, her bottom lip trembling. “Julian—"

“Get the fuck out!” he roared at her, making me jump back from him, though my wrist was still firmly in his grasp.

“Babe, get her out of here,” Vincent told Desiree. He looked at me. “Get him outside, Meg.”

I moved in front of Julian, ignoring Connie’s pleading from behind me. “Julian,” I called softly. I knew he would never hurt me. He had killed a man for me. If there was anything I knew about Julian, it was that he would do everything in his power to protect me.

He released my wrist, but he leaned down and gripped my ass in his hands, lifting me up. His arm hooked under my ass, and with his other hand, he laced his fingers in my dark tresses, pulling my lips to his, taking them in a savage kiss that ripped apart every single part of my soul and put it back together.

It was like I was the one thing tethering him to the Earth, keeping him together as the urge to destroy something wreaked havoc on his mind.

I laced my fingers in his hair as he carried me up the stairs. “Hey, we have to get to class!” Vincent called up the stairs. “You two have about fifteen minutes before we need to start walking to the math building!”

“Fifteen minutes is all I need!” Julian called back as he carried me into his room.

I giggled as he pushed open his bedroom door. He nipped at my bottom lip. “You think that’s funny, baby girl?” He tossed me onto the bed. I bounced with a squeak. “I’ll show you funny,” he promised as he crawled over the bed toward me.

Julian grinned at me as I stepped down the bleachers. I was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt under his jersey with a pair of black leggings. He ran his eyes over me, and the bright blue of his eyes darkened to the color of the ocean during a storm. “Fuck, do I have to play?” he groaned. “I just want to drag you out to my car and fuck you senseless.”

My nipples hardened as my stomach clenched. My breath hitched in my throat. He reached out and cupped my face in his hands, his lips covering mine a second later. I moaned softly as I circled his wrists with my hands.

“Win for me tonight?” I asked him softly as he pulled back from my lips.

He smirked at me. “You’re my good luck charm, baby. With you watching, I’ll always win.”

He said the sweetest fucking things. Who knew Julian was capable of tenderness?

He pecked my lips and then rushed off towards his team. I took my spot in the bleachers. A couple of weeks had passed since Julian made me his girlfriend and expressed his love for me. And it had been two weeks of utter bliss. And Julian showed me his love in every way that he could.

I was pretty sure I’d pissed off every bit of the female population.

“Hey, Meghan Fallows, right?” a guy next to me asked.

“Um, yeah?” I said in response, the answer coming out as more of a question. “Why? Who are you?”

He slid an arm around my waist. I froze, my skin crawling. “What do you say to a quick one in the bathrooms?”

I jerked back from him as if he’d burnt me, my eyes widening in horror. My heart pounded hard in my chest in fear. “Are you out of your mind?” I demanded, my voice high-pitched. I felt like throwing up.
