When the song ended, he could read the disappointment in her eyes. “We have many more songs to enjoy together, Little one. Dance with me.”
She nodded and smiled, making his heart skip a beat. He loved her more than anything else in the world. Now, if he could convince her they could be fully together, he would have so much to look forward to.
CHAPTER 10
Waking up in Beau’s arms the next morning sent a zing to her heart. She’d loved Beau for so long. Being close to him was a blessing and a curse at the same time. Maisie knew this time would end soon, and she’d go back to her lonely life.
“I don’t like that expression on your face,” he commented.
“Sorry. I’m going to miss this when we have to go back to our separate lives.”
“I’m not planning on it.”
His blunt tone made her prop herself up on one elbow to look down at him. “You’re not planning on what?”
“Going back to my separate life.”
“I’m not following you, Beau.”
“Daddy, Little girl.”
“Okay, I’m not following you, Daddy,” she restated sarcastically. “Ouch!”
Maisie glared at him as she rubbed her bottom.
“Be good, my Little cactus. I’m not going to live apart from you anymore. When you decide it’s time to go back to Washington or I have to be there for the next session, Sarah will pack my clothes like she always does and we’ll fly back.”
“You’re planning to stay in my apartment?”
“Definitely. And you’ll stay here when we come back to Avondale.”
“The news hounds are going to swarm all over us,” she pointed out.
“Okay. Just like all news, the novelty will wear off as soon as something else catches their attention,” Beau assured her.
“I… You don’t get to decide this for me,” Maisie said in disbelief.
“Then let’s decide it together. Do you enjoy spending time with me?”
“Yes, but…”
“Do you miss me when we’re away from each other?”
“Yes, but, Beau…”
“Daddy,” he corrected. “Then we’ve made our decision. I know there will be attention for a while. We’ll deal with it and live our lives. I want you with me all the time. We’ve spent too much time apart.”
“And if it ruins your career?”
“Then I explore something else. I don’t need to be a politician to be happy, Maisie. I just need to be with you.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Okay, Daddy,” he suggested.
“Okay, Daddy. We’ll try it.”
“We’ll do it,” Beau corrected. “There will be obstacles. However, nothing is more important than us being together.”
“I’m headed back to my apartment tomorrow.”
“Sounds good. I’ll pack clothes to be gone for a while.”
“Can we spend more time in my… in the secret?” she whispered.
“I think that is an excellent plan. Breakfast first.”
When he tilted her back so he was above her, Maisie gripped his broad shoulders. “It’s going to be hard for me to eat breakfast flat on my back, Daddy.”
“Oh, it’s time for my breakfast. Yours will come later,” he explained before kissing a line over her shoulder.
She shivered as he trapped one nipple between his lips and rolled it experimentally. Maisie had always been embarrassed of her small breasts. There wasn’t anything on her that was voluptuous. Beau had never given her any indication that he was unhappy with her body. Pushing her self-doubts out of her head, she threaded her fingers through his silvery black hair.
“Mmm,” he hummed against her flesh, sending vibrations through her.
Maisie arched her chest, presenting herself to him. His hand wrapped around her breast, brushing softly over the sensitive mound as his tongue slid around her tight peak. She tried to hold still, but couldn’t control her wriggles when he sucked her nipple into his mouth.
Beau glided his hand down her abdomen to press her to the padding below. She loved being restrained. It seemed freeing to only be able to bask in his attention. She didn’t have to worry about doing the wrong thing—not that Beau had ever criticized her for anything in their private time together. When he lifted his head, Maisie inhaled deeply. She knew exactly what he intended to have as a snack.
“Spread your legs, Maisie.”
She knew he wouldn’t continue until she’d followed his command. Slowly, she moved her feet apart. Maisie watched his gaze roam over her naked body.
Beau did not allow pajamas or nightshirts in bed. He loved for her to lounge in them all day, but he wanted to feel her skin against his as they slept. He was very definitely in charge of everything. Maisie might try to control their interactions, but Beau was the one who made the decisions.
Shivering, not from the cold but from the feel of his eyes on her, Maisie moved her legs widely apart. She could feel the cool air of the room whisper over the heat that gathered between her legs.
Beau leaned forward to press a kiss to her mound before shifting himself between her legs. She loved the view of his toned body as he settled close, sitting on his heels on the mattress. He slid his hands under her hips and lifted her bottom from the soft padding.
