Seeming to mirror my feelings, Gregor takes my lips and kisses me passionately. I lock my fingers in his hair and hold him to me. I release his belt and pants and push them down his legs.

“I love you,” he groans as he lifts me onto his waist and climbs on the bed.

I writhe beneath him as he kisses his way down my body. My fingers are still locked in his hair. I look down my body into his eyes as he starts to feast on me.

It doesn’t take long for me to come all over his face. He crawls back up my body and retrieves a condom to put on. I hold his face as he looks down at me.

“I love you,” he says as he slides inside me.

I gasp and buck off the bed. My flavor is on his lips and tongue as our mouths connect. He feels amazing. His strokes aren’t too slow or too fast. There just right for the moment. He’s stirring my soul and calling it back to him.

Those words are on the tip of my tongue. I try to tell myself it’s safe to release them, but caution wins out. However, his groans in my ear make me question everything.

My heart feels like it’s going to come out of my chest. She’s so tight and wet, but I think it’s the fact that she’s mine, my wife. That’s making this feel like heaven on earth.

I reach to palm her thighs and push her legs back as I slide my thigh beneath her ass and pump deeper into her heat. Her body quakes and she starts to cry out.

“Yes,” I hiss between my teeth.

“Gregor, please.”

“I’ve got you, baby. Let go, I’m here, I’ll catch you.”

She looks up into my eyes and I’m blown away as I see trust there. I’m getting through. The hope that fills me almost consumes me. I start to thrust deeper, trying to chase down what I know we both need.

“Yes, yes,” she cries.

I know I’m hitting her spot, but it’s not enough. I want her crazy with pleasure. Pleasure only I know how to give her. I grab the top of the mattress and dig my toes into the bed as I work my body into hers.

She wraps her legs around me as if trying to anchor herself. I grind my teeth and piston into her.

“I love you so much. You belong to me, Chloe. Always have, always will,” I roar.

She doesn’t have to say a word. I see our truth in her eyes. We’re going to make it. As long as we can stay on this path, I know I can make this right.

Chapter 36

Newlyweds

Gregor

I wanted to make our honeymoon week special. The look in Cee’s eyes says it all. This has been an amazing day. I woke her with breakfast in bed and then we took a ride for this.

A hot-air balloon ride. I watch her face as it beams with joy. I had no idea she would enjoy this so much.

“This is beautiful. I can’t wait to get back to the studio. This has sparked so much inspiration,” she gushes.

“I wish I had the talent to capture you in this moment.”

She laughs. “That’s what cameras are for.”

I chuckle and move to stand behind her to wrap her in my arms. I lift my phone and hold it out in front of us as she snuggles into my embrace. I take a picture, then kiss the top of her head as I take another. Closing my eyes, I breathe in the moment.

She takes my phone from my hand as I remain in the moment. My net worth could never match the wealth I feel in this moment. I’m at peace. Life is starting to make sense again.

“You know, I would never do something like this back home. Sid is terrified of heights.”

I open my eyes. “I wonder if Clay knows. He loves skydiving and bungee jumping.”

“She would totally shit her pants. This one time in high school, we went on a trip and had to walk over this overpass. The fit she threw.”

“Clay will eat that knowledge up. A reason for him to protect her,” I scoff.

“That is if she’ll allow him to protect her. Sid has always been so independent. She deserves someone who will allow her to relax. You know, someone she can trust to give control to.”

“And you, what do you deserve?”

She turns in my arms and places her palms on my chest. I peck her lips before she replies.

While keeping her gaze on her hands, she says, “I deserve the same. I used to have that. I deserve to have it again and to trust it won’t change on me.”

“It won’t. I promise it won’t. Nothing will ever force me to hurt you again, Cee.”
