I saw him, Clay, and David huddle up with a piece of paper. The next thing I knew they were ushering Ally into Clooney’s study. I had gone to follow but Clooney and Eileen intercepted me.

It’s been two days and Gregor hasn’t given a single explanation for what happened. However, I don’t think it’s his place to tell me. It’s Ally’s and she’s playing with me like I won’t hurt her.

“You guys are so lucky. Back home you can’t find guys like you have. I mean, come on. They send their personal security to shop with you,” Marnita sings.

“Trust me, it’s not as romantic as it seems. It’s just another form of control,” I say dryly.

I love her, but I nearly roll my eyes. Gregor didn’t send Ethan to protect me. This is his way of having control, something he’s been establishing more and more since we’ve been back.

Gregor’s dominant side hasn’t gone anywhere. I just want to know what he’s trying to control this time. Whatever it is, it has my sister’s name all over it.

Her jumpy behind isn’t helping my mood in the least, with her X-Men-looking ass. I’ve been tempted to snatch that damn wig right off her head.

Whatever Ally has ever wanted, I’ve made it happen no matter the cost of what I had to sacrifice, just like my mother did for me. I didn’t want her to miss out on having that type of love and care. I tried to give her the mother’s love I got to have.

In a way, she soothed the pain of me not raising my own child. I’ve bent over backward for Ally and now I don’t know who I’m looking at. What has she gotten into that she feels she can’t talk to me about?

I blame Cane. She’s always up his junkie-acting ass. I swear, when his brothers aren’t shielding him from me, I’m going to go upside his head. The thing is, I don’t even know if the two are fucking or what. His weird ass treats her like she’s his possession, but Ally swears he’s just a friend.

“Can we go in this store?” Marnita asks, pulling me out of my thoughts. I look at the store she’s pointing to. On any other day, I’d want to go in. Not today, especially not with Miss Storm and her long-ass gray wig.

“Please,” Ally groans, fanning her face.

I turn to her and narrow my eyes. If she didn’t have on that dumbass wig, she wouldn’t be fanning herself. Granted it is hot for September. One of those New York Indian summer days as people call them.

“You wouldn’t be so hot if you didn’t have on that ridiculous wig,” I mutter, no longer able to hold my tongue, the wig is down to her butt, she doesn’t even look like herself, and what’s with the fucking shades?

I swear she wasn’t this weird in high school or junior high—the times when I would have ignored behavior like this. When she takes the shades off, I bare my teeth. I’ve had enough.

Gray contacts? Ally is so pretty. I don’t get this identity crisis. If she’s doing this for some guy… I thought I did better than this. Is this the example I’m showing with Gregor?

“Okay, what’s with the X-Men-convention look?” Sid teases, speaking my thoughts.

“I wanted to try something new. It’s not like you guys haven’t changed your hair or something in the past. Why is everything I do a problem?”

“Because you’re making a bunch of poor choices and I don’t like it,” I hiss.

“Right, says the sister who runs off to Dubai for what? Four months and comes back engaged. Setting awesome examples, sis,” Ally retorts.

I freaking snap. I lunge for my sister to choke her lights out, but Ethan catches me around the waist.

“Thanks,” Sid says as she gets between me and Ally.

Tears fill my eyes. This girl has no idea all I’ve given up for her. I always choose her over myself or anything else. I chose her over my unborn child. How dare she?

“You have no idea the things I’ve sacrificed for you. No idea,” I choke out.

“I didn’t ask you to,” she tosses back and pouts like a big fucking baby and she wants to be treated like an adult.

“Gah, you’re so fucking ungrateful. I’ve never put a man before you, Ally. I’m only asking for the same respect. Talk to me. Tell me what’s going on. Because if I have to beat that shit out of you, I promise we’re going to have a long trip back to being sisters.”

I don’t want to take my pent-up anger out on her, but she’s pushing me. I know if I beat her ass, she’s not going to forgive me easily, but I don’t know what to do. Something is wrong, I need her to talk to me. I plead with my eyes, let me fix it.
