In fact, one of the officers was Wyatt Hazelton, Lark’s Daddy. The other was Avery. The two of them had taught all the Little Cakes employees the self-defense classes.

Wyatt and Avery both had their hands on their hips as they approached.

Avery was the first to speak. She was lifting up her cuffs as she did so. “Elizabeth Richards, you’re under arrest.”

“What?” Elizabeth spun around. “What are you talking about? You can’t arrest me. And that’s not even my name. You’ve got the wrong woman,” she protested.

Avery smirked. “Douglas, Smith, Jones, Appleton. Which one are you using this month?” She grabbed Elizabeth’s wrists and cuffed them so fast the wad of money and the purse fell to the ground.

Wyatt bent down to pick everything up. “I’m sorry for the disturbance,” he told Sue. “You won’t be seeing Elizabeth again. She’s wanted for fraud in six states.” He turned to follow Avery toward the patrol car.

Davis lurched forward and pulled Sue into his arms, backing her up until the rest of them were all inside and the door to the shop closed. He tipped her head back. “Are you okay?”

“Yes. How did you get here so fast?”

“I called the police,” Bear stated from behind Sue. “And then I called your Daddy.”

Sue smiled. Bear was one of the good guys. Daisy was a lucky Little. Sue thought she herself was the luckiest Little alive though. She hugged Davis tightly.

“The police were already at the gym when they got the call. They were looking for Elizabeth. Apparently she’s been scamming gym owners all over the country.”

“How?” Sue asked.

“She uses a different surname every six months or so, flirts until they fall for her, and marries them. Soon after that, she divorces them and takes them to the cleaners.”

Sue gasped. “Thank goodness you didn’t fall for her.”

Davis chuckled. “That was never going to happen.” He smoothed Sue’s hair back from her forehead. “I was waiting for my perfect Little girl. I knew I’d finally found her the moment she walked in the front door of Fitness Haven.” He smiled.

Sue returned the grin. “Me?”

“Yes, you.” He lifted her off the floor and spun her around before kissing her all over her face and setting her back on her feet.

“I need to tell you something,” Sue declared, giving him a serious look.

“Whatever it is, we’ll deal with it.”

“I’m in love with you,” she blurted.

His next smile was a mile wide. “Yeah?”

“Yes.”

He kissed her again, this time on the lips, lingering for a long time. “I love you too, Cherry mine.”

Sue had almost forgotten Ellie and Riley were standing behind them, but Sue started giggling when Ellie clapped her hands together, audibly sniffling. “I love it when someone meets their forever Daddy. Isn’t it romantic, Bear?” she asked, shifting her attention to the large man who was grinning like a loon.

“Yeah. It’s romantic.” He pointed at the back room. “Now, go get the last batch of cupcakes ready so we can open up. Both of you.” He turned to follow Ellie and Riley grumbling about Little girls and their romantic notions about love.

Sue knew Bear was as deeply in love with Daisy as Garrett was with Ellie and Wyatt was with Lark. There was also the love she’d seen on Milo’s and Evan’s faces every time they looked at Riley and Tori.

There was a lot of love going around. Apparently Little Cakes had the ability to cast a magic spell on everyone who entered.

Sue was certainly glad, and she wrapped her arms tighter around her Daddy and thanked her lucky stars.

She wondered who might be the next Little girl to find her perfect love. Maybe Avery. After all, Sue realized Avery was a Little when she met her at Blaze. She hadn’t been with a Daddy. Perhaps she should spend more time at Little Cakes. After all, something was in the air. Maybe it was the sweet frosting that helped Littles find their special forever Daddy.

Sue was about to giggle as she plotted a way to get Avery into the shop more often when the door to Little Cakes opened again and a woman stepped inside.

Sue released Davis. It wasn’t very professional for the employees to be snuggling with their boyfriends in front of the customers.

The woman smiled. She didn’t look annoyed at all. “Hi. I’m CC Callaway.” She held out a hand.

Sue shook her hand as Ellie appeared from the back. “CC!” she exclaimed. “How are you? I see you’ve met Sue. Come on in. Did you need some cupcakes?” Ellie exuberantly turned to Sue. “CC owns CC’s Purrfect Coffee.”

CC chuckled. “That’s a lot of questions. Most importantly, yes, I wanted to see if I could place a large order for cupcakes for an upcoming event. It’s not for a few months. We have plenty of time.” CC followed Ellie toward the counter.
