King did as I said, crawling up my body until we were face-to-face. I reached up to take his jaw in my hands to pull him down for a kiss.

We both groaned, relishing the feel of lips and tongue and the long night stretching out lazily ahead of us. I silently thanked the homebuilder for setting this bedroom apart from the others, because I knew when I got inside of King, I wouldn’t be able to stay quiet.

After several long minutes of kissing, King pulled back and met my eyes. “Hi,” he said with a shy grin. “I wasn’t sure…”

He was never insecure outside of the bedroom, so when he expressed it in here, it surprised me. I had to remind myself that Elek had probably done a number on his trust.

“I am. Very sure. Even though I’m well aware of how stupid this probably is.” I reached up and ran my fingers through the golden hanks of hair hanging down. “Not that your ego needs any stroking, but I can’t seem to resist you. I hope it’s not a huge mistake.”

King’s face was solemn. “I’m not going to betray you. I’m not going to do anything ever again to fuck up your career. I’m… I’m sorry, about… the Van Gogh job. I can’t say I would have handled things differently, because I definitely didn’t want to go to prison, but I’m sorry about the effect it had on your job.”

His words surprised me. Never in a million years would I have expected King Wilde to feel remorse for his actions toward me in the past. He seemed to be sincere, but there was definitely still a part of me that had to remind myself he was a master manipulator, that knew he would do anything to stay free. I only hoped “anything” didn’t include faking his interest in me.

“Thank you,” I said. I brought his face closer with my hand on the back of his head and took his mouth with mine again. It didn’t take long until both of us were writhing against each other, ready for more.

“Want you inside of me,” King breathed. “Please.”

As I reached for the table between the beds, King rolled off me onto his side. “The lube is on the dresser.”

“Mine’s right here. I was feeling optimistic earlier.” I grabbed the bottle from the drawer and returned to see King’s eyes closed in pleasure. He was stroking himself, waiting for me.

“Jesus fuck,” I muttered, flipping the cap open as fast as my fingers would allow. “Look at you. Jesus.”

I reached between his legs and pushed them farther apart with the back of my hand. My fingers sought his entrance and went to work prepping him. King gasped the minute the cool lube hit his hot skin. I wanted to take in every micro reaction in his entire body: the soft little sounds, the quick breaths, the clenched fists, and the way his throat bared to me as he threw his head back.

King Wilde was living art. He was beautiful, mesmerizing, and thought provoking. I could have stared at him all day long.

“Oh god,” King said in a rough voice. “I’m ready. Promise. Please.”

I pressed a second finger inside of him, relishing in the heat and squeeze that I was going to feel around my dick.

“You’re so fucking gorgeous. I can’t keep my eyes off you. I can’t keep my hands off you.” I clenched my teeth in frustration, knowing I shouldn’t say the rest, but I couldn’t help it. “I can’t keep my thoughts off you.”

King’s eyes opened wide in surprise, but I looked away, concentrating on moving over him so that I could lose myself in his body and focus on the physical only.

Fucking. This was fucking.

King groaned as soon as I began to enter him.

And I forced myself to shut away any trace of true feelings for the enticing man beneath me and focus on the way his body made my body feel. We needed stress relief from the intensity of the gala op.

That’s all this was.

Stress relief.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that…

And what the fuck are you going to do when King realizes you’ve been lying to him about the crown this entire time?

King

Falcon stretched me wide open, reminding me who had control here, who was in charge. His dominance was powerful and masculine. It checked off all my boxes and would have been more than enough to send me flying.

But then he’d said he hadn’t been able to stop thinking of me.

That had made me feel a million times more defenseless, even more at his mercy than ever before.

Even when the agent had threatened my physical freedom, I hadn’t felt as vulnerable as I did wondering if he had true feelings for me.

“Look at me. Where did you go?” Falcon asked in a deep grumble. “Stay with me.”
