It wasn’t really a question, but Kenton nodded as he deflated, slouching back in the booth. “Yes.”

“This is why I have The Pup Rule.” Bishop said it almost like it was a heading in a book.

“What rule?” This was about Kenton, but I wanted to hear what Bishop would’ve done.

“No intimate stuff or serious conversations unless the guy has seen my pup side.” Something about the set of his shoulders and the way his brows tightened said that was as rough as it’d sounded. “It saves a lot of heartache.”

“But that’s hard.” Kenton plopped his elbows on the table and rested his head in his hands like a very dramatic pup. “Bane needs to be psychic. He looks at me like he knows what I’m thinking, so maybe this is really his fault?”

Bishop snorted. “Not likely.”

I was trying not to laugh, but the two men were making it impossible. “What are you going to do?”

Confrontation wasn’t my thing, but Kenton was going to have to fess up he wasn’t only a landscaper.

“Well, it’s not like you lied.” Bishop was trying to see the upside. “You just left out a few things. Does he seem open-minded?”

That got more head bobbing and sighing from the confused pup. “Um, he hasn’t said anything negative, oh, and I mentioned my best friend being little, and he didn’t even blink about that…but maybe it was because he didn’t know what it was?”

Kenton blinked, finally realizing what he’d said as he gave me a sheepish look. “Sorry, Ian.”

I was the little in question, but I was used to Kenton blurting out random shit, so I just raised one eyebrow, imitating Bishop.

Kenton sighed and shrugged. “I don’t know how it happened.”

Bishop snorted. “You were trying to deflect so your sexy man didn’t ask about you.”

Probably.

Kenton’s blush said he agreed with Bishop’s assessment of the situation. “Bane wasn’t weird about it, though.”

That might’ve been because he didn’t understand what it was. Hell, even in the kink community I’d gotten some weird questions from people who should’ve known what it was.

There were documentaries about it, for goodness’ sake.

“It’s alright.” I glanced up at Bishop and smiled. “I’m Ian and I’m a little.”

Bishop grinned and responded in a singsong voice. “I’m Bishop and I’m a pup.”

“A big pup.” Kenton slammed his hand over his mouth, eyes going anime sized.

I giggled…I just couldn’t help myself.

Bishop seemed to think it was cute, though, and just nodded. “Big pups are the best cuddlers.”

Yep, sub.

I had the worst luck.

Kenton nodded, finally letting his hand fall back to his lap when he realized Bishop wasn’t upset at the random comment. “I have another friend who’s a pup, and he loves cuddling too.”

Pups, pups everywhere but not a Dom in sight.

And no Daddies either.

“How have you not blurted it out already?” Bishop was studying Kenton curiously before he glanced down at me questioningly.

I laughed. “I think that’s how he told his boyfriend about me.”

Kenton huffed, flopping back in his seat. “I can’t call him my boyfriend yet. I haven’t told him and we haven’t even traded blow jobs.”

Was that the current definition of boyfriend?

I glanced up at Bishop to see him wearing a cute thinking face, and I knew he was wondering the same thing. Thankfully, he got us back on track. “Okay, boyfriend definition aside, I think you have to talk to him.”

I had to agree.

“Like, now.” Because if the party ended early enough, they were supposed to meet up and hang out.

Kenton knew a guy from the catering staff who knew a guy at the shop where Roman had bought Eli’s collar, so we’d been a bit more prepared than everyone else about why he’d been so insistent that everyone had to come.

Bishop laughed as Kenton pouted again. “Nope. Ian is right.”

“I hate that.” His pout was so cute, I knew that if he hadn’t been hiding this part of himself from his new almost-boyfriend, the guy had to know something was up.

Kenton wasn’t subtle in the slightest.

“Go give Eli a hug and then call Bane.”

Bishop jumped in before Kenton could move. “And then come back and tell us what he said.”

There was an us now?

Kenton giggled, but as he slid out of the booth, he sighed and gave us wide eyes. I would’ve fallen for it, but Bishop was a firm pup and shook his head. “No, looking cute and pouting will not get you out of this.”

Maybe he wasn’t a sub?

Huffing, Kenton nodded. “I know…but I’m a very cute pup.”

Bishop gave him a big smile that had Kenton standing straighter as he rose. “You’d definitely be cute and Bane is going to remember how cute you are when you explain it.”

“He seems sweet. It’ll be fine.” Hopefully?

Bishop’s pep talk was a bit funnier than mine. “And when in doubt, tell him how good your tail makes you feel so he’ll be curious about seeing that.”
