He enters me, a heady swell crashing to shore, and I cry out at the divine intensity of it; the rush dancing through my veins. Since the first time—with him, on my bach bed—I’ve always loved sex. And there goes beautiful Damon Conroy outdoing himself again. Making sure no one else could ever live up to his sensual prowess. Each shift inside me has me bursting with sensation, and he moves like he knows it. Like he’s showing off. Like he’s proud of himself.

Like he’s happily marking me. His, his, his.

It’s so him, and my toes curl, and I can’t get enough, and then it’s almost too much—I can’t . . . I’m so close . . .

Damon hums “I gotcha, babe” and strokes me in time to his swivelling thrusts. One drag of his thumb over my tip and—

I come in thick, shiver-releasing waves. My moan has Damon ravaging me, unable to hold back, a furious, needy thrusting that milks every last drop out of me. I clench around him and he stiffens, head thrown back, exposing his throat. He pulses inside me and shudders with each wave of his climax, then lets out a hard breath and drops his weight on me, puffing.

“We’d better take a nap,” he says with a satisfied smirk. “I want to do it three more times before this Captain and Cook thing.”

“Three? Let me see you seduce me one more time.”

He pushes up, just enough for his twinkling eyes to connect with mine. “Back to teasing me, are you?”

“What if I am?”

“Then I’ll have to work really . . . hard.”

I snort and push him off. He rolls onto the bed beside me and I shiver at the loss of him. Maybe he won’t have to work that hard at all.

I finger my wet belly, and Damon hauls himself off the bed and returns with a warm wash cloth. He cleans me up and comes back to bed, chasing me under the sheets. His large limbs lock around mine, and we gaze at one another.

“God, you’re cute.”

He’d said it during, but hearing it after the moment . . . I’m giddy and shy all over again.

He plays with one of my curls. “I’ll never forget you saluting me after stealing my clothes. I was a goner in that instant.”

That was when . . . “But you—”

“You had serious others, too.”

I swallow. True.

“I was constantly asking Troy and your mum when you’d be back. I missed you. I’m glad I’m so persistent; it’s how Troy and I got close.” He pings the curl. “When I heard you were in a committed relationship, I had to move on. That’s when I met Mark.”

“I really dislike this Mark,” I ground out.

Damon’s eyes glimmer. “My man is jealous.”

“Stop smirking.”

“Say that without grinning yourself.”

I push his chest, but he doesn’t budge, and I can feel his heartbeat under my palm, solid and steady. I play with his chest hair. “You really pinched the bingo balls?”

“You were so crafty coming up with solutions.”

“I messed up the printing.”

“I loved watching you sweat.”

“There are no words for you.”

“I loved watching you bent over fixing things even more.”

“You just love watching me.”

“Bingo.” He kisses my brow and rubs my back over the hot pink pyjama top I’m still wearing. His fingers outline the words I stitched there.

I Love Damon.

After a night of very little sleep—for obvious reasons—I tiredly eat a very late breakfast, shower with Damon, cut myself shaving watching Damon in the mirror, and groan my way into my sailor outfit.

Damon needs a few more minutes, and I take the moment with our fish, phone stuffed under my ear.

My grin makes my voice sound funny. “How are you, Mum?”

“Same as always. But something new must be up with you.”

I swap my phone to my other ear and the pause is long enough for Mum to giggle.

“You’re going to tell me you and Damon are serious, aren’t you?”

“Well . . .”

“I knew it! I saw it coming, you know,” she says rather smugly. “I even told you this time.”

Why did I ring my mother?

“Anyway,” I say, “you just go right ahead and pick a cat without me. . . .”

Damon comes in at the tail end of this conversation and I hurriedly end the call. He’ll get all gloaty if he knows I’m talking about him.

Even though there’s much to talk about. Especially this second. Damon is wearing a navy and white striped shirt with a blue tie knotted at the collar and he’s stolen my captain’s cap. He looks like a nautical magazine spat him out of its pages. The fabric sits perfectly on him. I sigh. I get to unwrap that later.

Damon passes me a tablet and water that I wasn’t paying any attention to. “You sure do get to unwrap this later.”
