“Fine,” Derek said. “Fine, fine. I can’t argue with my brother and my chef. Just, please arrive on time. I don’t want an empty table for a long time.”

“Also, we will have a special dessert for you two,” Ally said.

“We will?” Derek asked, exasperated.

Ally shrugged.

“I’ll figure something out. Either that or a special appetizer. Your brother is going on a date, Derek. Man up and help him out,” she said, laughing.

“That’s on you, Ally,” he said, then turned to me. “On time. Please.”

“Will do,” I said.

Grinning, I took off before he could change his mind. As I made it through the door, I could hear him muttering something, but I didn’t bother to turn around. If he was going to change his mind, it wasn’t going to be where I could overhear him. He’d have to text me and have me ignore that too.

I went back down to the office and shut down the computer, closing my laptop and sticking the tablet on the charger. I didn’t need any of them over the weekend, and if I did, I could always run by the office and grab them. Hopefully, though, I wouldn’t.

I chided myself for thinking that way. I wasn’t even completely sure this was a date. I had to get myself together and focus on just making sure we had a good time. If I could put my best foot forward, I could worry about what might happen on a second date, then a third. Somewhere along the line, nature would take its course. But until then, I needed to not let my imagination run wild.

Not that I didn’t have a great imagination. An imagination completely capable of creating a good facsimile of what her body looked like under the tight dress she wore at the park. Or any number of clothing options she might or might not wear. My stomach tightened and my cock stirred just thinking about the long, slender neckline flowing into cleavage on the front of her dress.

Once I had everything shut down and the office closed up, I flipped off the light and pulled out my phone. As I walked out to my car, I sent a text to Camilla.

“Just making sure you are still good with me picking you up.”

Before I could even sit down in the driver’s seat, she responded.

“Sure. Are we still doing eight? I wanted to be able to run home for a bit, and I am way behind on these papers,” she typed.

I smiled.

“Eight is fine. How bad are they? People in his classes are usually among the higher-graded students,” I typed. It was true. When I went into his class, it was a big joke about how everyone was a Mensa member. I wasn’t, but I could have been if I wanted. My grades were certainly there.

“Not too bad. Just time-consuming and mind-numbingly boring. But it’s what I signed up for, right?” she said, adding a little shrugging emoji to the end.

“Well, finish up. I have a table waiting for us, and I promise we won’t have to talk about work if you don’t want to.”

“Deal.”

Grinning, I put the phone back in my pocket and began to drive home. I, too, wanted to get home and change and spruce up for the date. The office was unusually warm pretty much all of the time, making me sweat through my clothes on a regular basis. Noah said it was because the way the venting worked from the kitchen meant that room was like a hotbox, but it would cost tens of thousands to fix it, and Cameron put the kibosh on it.

Just in time for him to get his own office space, I noted.

Still, I wanted to have the time to get a quick rinse, put on clean clothes, and get myself mentally prepared for a date with a girl that drove me absolutely insane. It was still wild to me how crazy she made me feel when I thought about her. It was a feeling I hadn’t felt in a long, long time.

If ever.

For the first time, it really dawned on me. I had been hiding it from myself all day, all week really. I wasn’t just feeling crazy; I was nervous. Actually nervous about going on a date. Something about Camilla made me feel like I was a teenager asking out a head cheerleader or something. Not that I felt like I would be all that nervous had I done that when I was in high school. Being nervous around women was never a problem of mine, even being into the nerdy things like computers and gaming.

But something about Camilla was different. She made me question everything I said, everything I wore. I wanted to impress her badly.

I could. I knew I could. Everything was working for me. I had an exclusive table at an exclusive restaurant where I just happened to have an in with the chef. It was going to be as fancy as I wanted it to be and as low-key and easy as I wanted it to be. It was all up to how I presented the evening and how I executed it.
