There were worse things than waking up to a corpse.

Leo shuddered. “Ugh. That’s fucking creepy. Have you ever killed anyone though?” He looked straight into Zolt’s eyes, and despite the morbid topic, the atmosphere felt somehow intimate. Or maybe it was just the two smaller lamps Zolt had turned on to set the mood right.

Zolt shrugged. For all the times he’d witnessed death, he’d never been the one to deal the killing blow. “Didn’t have the pleasure yet.”

Leo licked his lips. “I thought this was an honesty hour kind of situation, but okay.”

Zolt’s eyelid twitched, but he shouldn’t be surprised by this development. “The club looked into my past.”

“You spent three years in prison for manslaughter,” Leo said. “Or are you saying it doesn’t count, since it wasn’t intentional?”

Zolt took three gulps of his liquor, grateful for the burn in his throat. Some things were best left in the past, but life had a way of digging them up anyway. “That’s what my record says.”

“You confessed to it.” Leo raised one eyebrow, and Zolt couldn’t help but enjoy all of his attention, even if it was given for the wrong reasons.

“I wasn’t the one to kill him, but his friends offered me cash for saying that I did. I got enough to set up this shop, and all that for only three years of my life. The way I see it—a bargain.”

Zoltan finished his glass and poured himself more of the whisky. There had been some broken bones, one stabbing, and a whole lot of regret during that time, but he was out now, free to do whatever he pleased.

“Ooh… that’s how it is.” Leo nodded with a smirk, and when Zolt noticed his empty glass, he filled it with more vodka. “I witnessed a guy murdered before, but… I keep wondering. Did I really kill this guy tonight? He technically stabbed his own throat with the glass.”

“No. He did it to himself when he entered my shop uninvited. Suicide by Zolt and Leo,” Zolt said, clinking their glasses as he shifted closer to his handsome guest. Now this was something worthy of occupying his mind.

Leo smiled at him, but his eyelids were drooping ever so slightly, which made him even sexier when he sat there, relaxed, in just his briefs, and with no idea how delicious he was. Prey was easy to catch when it didn’t understand its position in the food chain.

“No one ever finds out, done and dusted. I can drink to that.”

“No. Even the trash man doesn’t know you were involved. You’re perfectly safe, Leo Heller,” Zolt said in a low voice, leaning that bit closer to the warm body that had attracted him since they’d first met.

“Are you this friendly to every guy you kiss?” Leo asked with a smirk of confidence. Was he finally realizing that he wasn’t an unattractive scrap and had the leverage to play with Zolt?

“No. Not every one of them,” Zolt said, and when Leo’s blue eyes beckoned him closer, he touched his face, dragging fingertips down the tempting mouth he wanted to claim again. Leo was the new variation of his favorite drug, and he couldn’t wait to have it pumping through his veins.

But Leo pulled away and stumbled to his feet, wobbly on his legs. “I better go, but can I take a quick shower?”

He had no idea how much his indecisiveness warmed Zolt’s balls. He loved the chase. Getting it on with a guy who didn’t put out willy-nilly was exactly the turn-on Zolt was searching for. To know he was so hot a guy couldn’t help but spread his legs.

“Sure. Through the bedroom,” he said, indicating the right door. Leo hesitated, his eyes unfocused as he briefly looked at Zolt again before skittered away like a spooked cat.

The thrill of the hunt burned through Zolt’s arteries as he stood, downing his second glass of whisky. Liquor buzzed in his brain as he removed his flip flops and pushed off the remaining clothes, standing naked in his living room. Not all cats wanted to sit in one’s lap right away. Some needed to be tempted there first.

He walked through the bedroom. With dark gray walls and a king-sized bed taking up most of the floor, it was a space dedicated to only two things—sleep and fucking. He hoped Leo would share the bed with him for both those purposes.

The hum of water in the shower was already drumming in Zolt's ears. He couldn’t wait to see Leo’s body, but was also curious how Leo would react to Zolt invading his privacy. The guy had drank enough vodka to numb his inhibitions, but one could never know with the straights.

His gaze trailed to the large bed, to the wooden headboard his lovers so often held on to as he plowed them from behind. Temptation in the flesh was naked just beyond the door to his en suite. He could hear the droplets as they slid off Leo’s naked skin and fell around his feet, the bright lines around the door beckoned him in, but he stopped at his bed to place the lube and condoms on top of the bedside drawer.
