I'm not missing her now. I've finally found her. She's tucked up on the back of my bike, her arms wrapped tightly around my waist with her thighs cinched around me. I can feel the heat of her pussy against me. Feel her heart pounding against my back.

Bella Sterling is my missing piece.

And I'm mad as hell that someone tried to hurt her. That she watched someone die.

She's allowed to be as prickly as she wants. I won't ever hold it against her, not after what she's been through.

I've always wondered why I was built like a fucking brick shithouse. I'm guessing this is my answer. God or the universe or whoever is in charge knew I'd need to be massive to handle this fiery little goddess. They knew I'd need to be fearless to protect her. I'd need to be unwavering to win her trust. And I'd have to have the patience of a saint to keep my goddamn dick out of her. Because Je-sus. If he gets any harder, he's going to break off.

We pull up to the gate surrounding my property at a little after one in the morning. Callum idles on the road until we're through the gate and it's closed behind us, and then he takes off, heading to his place. The MC owns acres of undeveloped property on the south side of Cowboy's ranch. I picked the best damn piece of it and built my house right in the middle.

The two-story cabin is three miles into the woods. A deep gorge runs along the back of the property, cutting off access. It's the perfect place to protect clients in need of a place to fly under the radar for a little while. Unless you know the property well, you're more likely to land your ass in the gorge or on MC territory than to slip in or out undetected.

Motion lights flood the property with light as we start up the driveway, illuminating our way. Bella sits up a little straighter behind me, glancing all around, though there isn't much to see aside from trees and more trees. They end abruptly a half mile from the house in every direction. If anyone makes it onto the property, there is no place to hide for that last half mile. It's just them and a rolling expanse of green grass leading right up to the house.

I pull into the garage and park the bike before helping Bella dismount.

She stumbles, her legs unsteady after being in the same position for the entire ride from Houston. Shit. I should have stopped and let her stretch.

"Easy, Mischief," I murmur, sliding an arm around her waist to keep her on her feet.

"Thanks," she whispers.

I hang onto her for a moment, reluctant to let her go. She's cuddly as hell when she's not fighting me for every inch. A yawn cracks her jaws, her head drooping.

"Shit. Let's get you inside."

"Okay," she agrees softly.

I grab her backpack from my saddlebag and lead her toward the door.

Crash, the Rottweiler puppy Cash swindled me into adopting a few months ago, hears us coming. The crazy dog skids around the kitchen island like he's trying to win a race, his massive front paws extended to slow him down. There is no stopping him, though. The name picked the dog. He sails headfirst into Bella, knocking her back a step.

The bastard doesn't even look sorry about it.

He hops right up, his tongue lolling out as he stares up at her in complete adoration.

"Oh, my goodness," she whispers, dropping to her knees. "Aren't you the cutest?"

"He certainly thinks he is," I grumble, jealous as hell as she cups his face in her hands and coos at him. He eats it up, naturally. He may be a menace, but he's no fool. She's a goddess, and she's scratching his ears. Of course he's in heaven.

"What's your name, big guy?"

"This is Crash," I say, introducing them. "Crash, this is Mischief. She's going to be staying with us for a while, so I'm going to need you to act like you have at least two manners, my guy."

"Only two?" Bella turns to look up at me, an amused smile on her face. And goddamn, she's beautiful when she's happy. Callum wasn't lying when he said she was angelic. There isn't an angel in heaven any prettier than this sweet little thing.

"No licking his balls in front of you, and no farting," I say, ticking them off. "We're still working on the rest of it."

When I die, I want her laugh to be the last sound I hear. It goes straight to my fucking heart, setting off an avalanche. Entire sections get swept away, replaced with her. Fuck my life. How long do I have to wait to kiss her? To fuck her?
